Holmes 57 LexCath 50

Many teams play in holiday tournaments where they play two games in a day. It's part of what makes the Sw16 special.

Eta has Holmes played twice in one day this season. I don't remember any tournaments like that. Special; that term can be taken is different ways.

I agree completely. To determine who is the true state champs, both teams should be at their best. I guess it could be argued that they are equally penalized because they both play two games in one day. However, I think they should start the tournament a day earlier. Have the semi's on Friday night, let the boys rest and go to it on Saturday night!

Hypothetically both teams may not be equally penalized. Say for instance Mason has to play a couple of OTs to win todays game. They would be much more penalized than Holmes. I do believe this has happened before, has it not?

Bardstown played four games in two days in the Franklin-Simpson tourney.

Special in that it is the true test of a champion to have to overcome two big games in one day.

No they haven't. They have had two stints where they played 3 games in 3 days as well as 4 in 4 days though.

Once again I don't see fatigue being a factor whether they win or lose tonight. When you are playing 10 or 11 guys consistently they are getting rest during the game which will pay dividends in a situation like today.

Also, they benefit from playing the early game. Getting an extra two hours of rest over your opponent goes a long way.

I love the tournament with all of its "imperfections" (there are a lot of folks that despise the unclassified format, as well) - but there is no doubt opportunity for one time to come in fresher than the other. It truly requires the luck of the draw. In 1980, I personally hated it but Holmes was unlucky in that Friday night saw a triple overtime win over Ashland. No doubt they were fatigued the next morning against a powerful Owensboro team - they lost by 25, and Dicky Beal was a ghost of his typical self.

Bottom line - I wouldn't tinker with the format.

True, I didnt think about overtime.

I never said you were wrong in your rants, just consistent... :D

I'll accept that as a compliment. Thank you sir.:D

I think that Holmes advantage in the FT had to do with them figuring out how to break the LexCath press. LexCath was always chasing them and they aren't used to that.

On a side note, if you would have told me after the first quarter that Holmes was going to win the game I'd have bet you my life savings that they wouldn't.

How hard will it be for both teams to play later tonight? With so much emotion and leaving everything you have on the floor this morning. I think it has to be tough on the kids.

Yes, but it's been this way for years.

Kids are tougher than we give them credit for. I would be more concerned that they would be overpumped than drained. Should be a great atmosphere tonight.

Awesome comeback . :thumb: They made a believer out of me. This Bulldog team does have what it takes to take it all. If they take LexCath and Mason back to back, that'll seal the door shut on who's the real Number 1. :thumb:

GO DAWGS!!!
