March 20, 200818 yr And I'm saying they will get the job done. But if you are wanting the best of the best, you should go for Samsung. They are clearly much better when compared next to one another. Samsungs are much more expensive though too. Actually if you want the best of the best go Sony Bravia XBR. The picture is second to none. They are very expensive when compared to other brands through. Samsung are very nice but a slight step below the Sony's. Pioneer also makes very nice HD TVs. The thing about Vizios is they are new enough that it's hard to tell how reliable they are. But for the money you can't beat them. As far as 1080 vs 720, I would spend the extra money on the 1080p. Although most singles are not in 1080p now I believe you need to think about the future.
March 20, 200818 yr I have a 42" Vizio 1080p, and I got my parents a 37" Vizio 720p for christmas, both look great, my 42 was $999 at Circuit City (reg $1199, but similar model at costco for $999 reg price), and my folks tv set me back $749 from Sam's. With reg TV I don't notice a difference between the two resolutions other than size difference. The Vizios come with a QAM tuner so you can hook up the cable straight from the wall and get free local HD's, a bunch of digital channels, and music channels in addition to your reg service. OR you can hook up an old set of rabbit ears and get the HD's over the air, I'm getting 3 channels of March Madness right now over the air (I also have Insight HD DVR cable box and all the hd channels).
March 21, 200818 yr I have a 42'' 1080p polaroid ($799 Black Friday) and I love the picture. My friend just bought a 50'' 720p Samsung ($1,400) and my brother has a 32'' 720p Vizio (Around $600). I would recommend any of the above, it all depends on how much you want to spend and how big of a picture you "need".
March 21, 200818 yr Spent a fair chunk on my 50" Panasonic 1080 and the picture is no better (maybe worse) than my 42" Vizio 720.

If I would've saw this earlier, I would've recommended going to avsforums before buying any TV. There's a lot of very good information on there along with a lot of TV geeks.
March 21, 200818 yr I'm looking into one also, but wanted to ask if most of you have yours up on the wall or on a piece of furniture? I'm interested in one of the cabinets with the mechanical concealment features. Anyone have one, or have a source of info? Stickymitts, what are you doing with yours?
