Haven't upgraded yet, the wife is working on that... As long as the TV is on the first floor or up, you won't have any issues. If below grade, you may have problems getting a reception.

You wil notice the difference if you have a blue ray player hooked up. But then again, if you can afford blue ray, then you can probably afford HDMI cables.

March 24, 200818 yr I disagree on the Component cables being as good as hdmi, the sound quality alone on hdmi makes a huge difference. With hdmi it stays digital and is much louder for one thing, with the component it's analog. At my work (noisy bar) we first used component cables and hooked up an Insight DH DVR to a plasma and had to have the sound near 60-70 just for normal listening on non-hd channels, 40-50's for HD, and when games are on and the place was packed the sound was all the way up at 100 and still didn't seem loud enough. I hooked it up with HDMI and now the sound seldom goes above 35, usually in lower 20's. I haven't noticed much of a picture quality difference between HDMI and component, but for novices component does have an advantage over HDMI, no handshake issues. Sometimes there will be an problem with HDMI and sound won't work, or picture color is off and you have to reboot everything to fix it. Also if you use an upconverting DVD player (including PS3) you have to use HDMI to get above 480p. You can find quality HDMI cables or any cables for that matter at monoprice.com for cheap. I've bought HDMI cables, VGA cables, Firewire, component, and composite cables there and all have been good quality and very cheap.
