This was a great game. Paintsville is very tough. The kids play hard and were able to handle the ball well for the most part except in the 4th qtr a few plays. Coach Runyon has done an amazing job with his team. Landon Slone really seized the moment and played extremely well and he had good help from his teammates.

Great game. Slone was the MAN today. Should be a good one with Holmes too.

Most entertaining game of the day easily.

 

Slone looked like a heck of a scorer today. Jtown had nobody that was even close to being able to defend him. I really think if Jtown hadnt pressed so much things would have worked out better for them. Slone kept crossing his guy over against the pressure and was able to create a lot of baskets. It's weird saying it, but if this Lville school had made Paintsville play a half court game they may have faired a little better. Seemed like a lot of baskets after beating the pressure.

 

Interesting thing to note from the game, all 10 of the guys on the floor at the end of the game were in double figures. You arent going to see that much at the Sweet16.

This kid can flat out play at any level. I think there are many D-1 school missinog out on this kid. I know he'd probably like to play at UK, but I don't see it happening.

Louisville B-ball was not down this year, sometimes it comes down to the draw in the Sweet 16..Jtown could play with anyone in the state, may not win but they could play with them. Jtown needs the D to win they did not play good D tonight and did not cause enough turnovers to win the game. Tigers were a better time tonight, congrats to them...it was a good win for them.

Paintsville is a very fun team to watch and their kids play hard. The Slone kid was unbelievable and he has great support around him. Feel good story with this Tigers team, with their head coach retiring after they play their last game this season. Great to get to the Sweet 16 and they seemed like they were never going to be denied tonight. A very good matchup coming on Friday against Holmes.

I was there for all the games. This game was the best of the day, by far. Slone put on a show, but has a very good supporting cast as well. Not sure of names, but #4 and #45 are very good as well. Friday's game should be a dandy. Btw...I also heard that Slone will be playing D-1 Baseball next year, not basketball.

How big is Slone? And how big are their 5 starters? I walked in toward the end of the 3rd tonight and from where I was couldn't really tell how big they were.

I am 5'10'' and I am from Paintsville and he is well over 6'. What does it matter? He put up 35 against taller defenders tonight. Bottom line- he can play with anyone in the state. Sure other players can dunk and run 4.5's but he can flat out play the game.

I agree Landon Slone put on a show, had not got to see him this year, he plays smart and has great court vision. Where ever he goes to college...they will get a real gem.:thumb: He had 35 points, but I would also like to know the assists for this team....very unselfish. Also loved #4...Junstin Murray, great ball handler, great floor general. I must admit that Paintsville is better than I thought they were. Best game of the day.

 

I met some really nice people from Paintsville last night. Slones Aunt and Uncle. Make sure you tell Bucky Ellis we met. Aslo ran into Paul and Sue Williams.Looking forward to watching this Paintsville team again.

Paintsville is the feel good story of the tournament but I think Holmes' athleticism and depth will take care of them on Friday.
