Take this past Friday for instance, rain all day, no baseball, so they practice football. It's pretty simple.

What kind of numbers did they have out? And did they have any no shows??

I find it hard to believe that a player can make or break his football season in 10 spring practices. I would hope Dale would tell his players to be committed to their current sport.

Football takes priority. Hoops players wait until after Football is over and done.

 

As for the 10 spring practices, I think you will find that in past years, of those that play both Football and baseball, most will show up at all, or nearly all, the spring Football sessions. This is Highlands Football after all!

I honestly can only think of 5 players that play both football and baseball. I noticed one baseball player practice pitching then went in and changed and began practicing football. The coaches seem to be working together and letting the kids go where they feel they need to be at the time.

For the life of me, I don't understand why people get their boxers in a bunch over Highlands spring football. Right or wrong, fair or foul, football is the dominant sport at Highlands, not because of gerrymandering by Dale or anyone else. It's the dominant sport because of the tradition and past success. As a result, you are going to simply find some kids that will forego playing other sports to concentrate on football. As long as the kids are doing that on their own volition, its okay. And Sticky has already made his one post on that issue.

No disrespect but I don't agree with the bolded part of your post. I'd say from my observation that the baseball/football players probably, on average, attend 50% max of the spring football practices (some more, some less). And over the last 5 years or so I've been to about every spring football practice.

And I find it equally hard to believe that missing 4 or 5 baseball practices is going to have any real impact on how good of a season a baseball player is going to have.

 

As for the bolded part, I realize you are smarter than that so I'll assume you are just resorting to your CovCath mode of wanting to stir things up:D. But in case I'm wrong, I'll point out that basketball starts when the football playoffs are getting ready to start; whereas spring football is occuring when more often not baseball practices are either cancelled or moved indoor due to inclement weather. Kind of different impact, wouldn't you agree?

 

And while I appreciate all the concern from CovCath land about the state of HHS baseball, you guys might want to concentrate on worrying about your football program:D:D
