So...no...

I don't think he's a legit candidate anyway, too high of a buyout.

Anthony Grant would be a great pick up for IU, don't see it happening though. Bruce Pearl should look into it but I don't think he will.

I honestly don't have a clue who will take the job. Way too many names for me to chose from up there.

Any idea what kind of mess they will be stepping into yet 98 ? Thats not a shot at you or IU by the way, it's an honest question. Because not many high profile coaches are going to want to take a coaching job thats in the middle of everything IU could potentially be in.

I thought Montgomery would be on the list.

Talked to our mutual IU friend 98, and he is hearing serious rumblings that Alford is gaining a lot of steam...

Doesn't the A.D. and Alford dislike each other?Seems like I heard that somewhere...

Yes. The ADs days are numbered...

Let me see. We're talking about Indiana, right...

...Who cares? :D

I choose Tony Bennett.

I think it is a good, solid, safe hire. In addition, he will not command that high of a salary.

IU is really working behind the scenes for Bruce Pearl.

Will they fork over the money they would need hire Pearl? Would he leave? Sucessful basketball coaches at football schools have quite a luxury.

Alford would be a calamity.

Pulling in Matta or Pearl would be an instant splash and probably allow IU to get back much quicker from what will be handed down by the NCAA.

Ok I'll risk sounding dumb and ask... Who is Brad Brownell?

Alford would be a TERRIBLE hire.

Ok I'll risk sounding dumb and ask... Who is Brad Brownell?

Record: College career (126-56), Wright State (43-16)

Coaching background: Wright State (2006-present), Head coach UNC Wilmington (2002-06), Assistant at UNC Wilmington (1994-2002), Assistant at University of Indianapolis (1992-94), Grad Assistant at University of Evansville (1991-92).

Bio: In his first season as head coach of Wright State, Brownell led the Raiders to their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1993 and has quickly built the program to one of the top teams in the Horizon League. After winning the Horizon League last year, he was named the NABC District 10 Coach of the Year which covers all Division I schools in Ohio and Indiana. Prior to Wright State, Brownell served as head coach at UNC Wilmington for four years, guiding the Seahawks to two NCAA tournament appearances. He was also named coach of the year twice by the Colonial Athletic Association. In just under five years, Brownell has averaged more than 21 wins a season as a head coach.

Why Brownell: He's from Evansville, Ind. and played and/or coached with two Knight protégés – Royce Waltman (former Indiana State coach) and Jim Crews (former Evansville and Army coach). Crews was hired at Army by Greenspan so the Indiana AD is already familiar with Brownell. Indiana is considered by many to be Brownell's dream job and he has a lot of support among high school coaches across the state

Pearl said a couple of days ago that he "expected" IU to come calling after the season is over but that he is not interested in leaving Knoxville (for whatever that's worth).

Stallings really makes sense to me. Hes been able to win at a high education institution and ran a clean program IMO. I also think that he would bring a toughness that exemplifies Indiana basketball. IMO he would make a lot of sense.

I'm sure IU will get a quality coach.

Minus one little thing. He's a Purdue guy. NO WAY....
