March 11, 200818 yr I saw where this is the 5th straight year that BCG had been named the coach of the year in his conference. That's pretty strong. WOW!!!!!!:scared: That is INCREDIBLE!!!!!! Looking more and more like we have a bright future!!!!
March 11, 200818 yr I saw where this is the 5th straight year that BCG had been named the coach of the year in his conference. That's pretty strong. Yea. I was thinking it had to be either 4 or 5...How many years was he at A&M?
March 11, 200818 yr Great to hear this news, I honestly didn't think that they would go to a co-coy but BCG is well deserving for the job that he has done with the (M.A.S.H.) unit Wildcats. This team has had more than their fair share of injuries to say the least. Gillispie has imo done a fantastic job keeping this team together, getting them to buy into his system and how things were going to work under him. Injuries, normal (new system) adjustments for coaches and players alike and keeping this team focused and making a heck of a run in the conference schedule was well deserving of COY honors. Oh yeah, that tanning bed guy at the place down south I75 deserves it as well.
March 11, 200818 yr This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Tenn was picked first (in which they finished) and UK was picked second (in which they finished).
March 11, 200818 yr This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Tenn was picked first (in which they finished) and UK was picked second (in which they finished). Should coaches be punished for doing what they were supposed to do ? In Pearls case, Tenn. was picked to be first, why should he as a coach be punished for coaching his team to a number 1 finish in the SEC ? For Billy G, finishing second with all the injuries and the way the season started out, plus splitting with the number 1 team in the sec and getting UK's players to still believe in themselves after the loss of P.Patterson. I don't see anything wrong with that pick either. By your reasoning LP, a coach could in any conference could never win COY if their team was picked to finish first and did so. Doesnt make much sense...
March 11, 200818 yr Well deservd for both coaches. One that had a talented team that has achieved their goals thus far and one team that has overachieved and still on the war path. Congrats to both.

I'm pretty sure UK was picked second with a healthy Jasper, Meeks and Patterson. Obviously that did not occur, hence the overachieving by the team and coach.

March 12, 200818 yr Pearl did what Pearl was supposed to do, especially when he got the gift of Tyler Smith from the NCAA. AND still almost lost the SEC title anyways!!!! Pearl did not do what BCG did with injuries and lack of depth. C'mon now, UK was 4 points away from being overall SEC champ with the new coach, new system, a slew of injuries and a weak bench. Then, on top of it, PP goes down before the game with Pearl, and Meeks has not been 100% when he did play. Take Lofton and Tyler Smith away from Pearl and see where UT lands..... Okay, well the same can be said for UK or any other team for that matter. Take their 2 best players away and see where they stand. Take Crawford and Bradley away from UK and what would they be? Like I said, you can say this for every team.

A matter of fact, if you did a poll I'm sure those 2 would get the most votes. UK has lost them and is still playing well.
March 12, 200818 yr Wasn't there talk about BCG not surviving another year back in December? There still is. But not for his coaching ability. I hope they work things out and Billy stays.:flame:
