Your Reds Roster: If the Season Started Tomorrow

Homer has done all he can in Louisville. The time is now. Nothing wrong with 5 righties, you want the lefy in the rotation for for the sake of having one when he got lit up last time? As for Belisle...he has great stuff when on. Nasty 2 seam and good change. It was his first season as a starter and he put up numbers equal to or better than most 4's or 5's.

What has he done at Louisville? Seriously, what? And I'm not against 5 righties. I said "all things equal" I'd mix in the lefty. And I won't argue that Belisle has great stuff. His problems may be between the ears. But he's had plenty of opportunity to turn the corner as a starter and IMO he has not. I think he'd be a great choice for long relief. You have your opinion and I respect that, but I'd take either of the other options that LRCW gave as the 5.

FWIW, I'm not opposed to Homer as the 5 frankly. And I'd prefer him over Belisle. But he's got to learn to pitch down in the zone, and I don't care at what level he learns it, but I'd prefer it not be at GASP.

A 1 to 1 walk/strikeout ratio is not going to cut it in the majors. I agree with what you are saying, I hope he gets his control in check.

Now what are the odds that Dusty takes both Cueto and Volquez to the big club? Not saying they both don't deserve it, but do you think Dusty and WK are prepared to do that? I think Affedlt is in the 'Pen to start the year. While I think Belisle is better suited for a switch to the bullpen, I also think they may prefer him over Fogg.

Has Bruce played himself out of the CF discussion or has Patterson and Hopper played him out?

I'm pretty sure Patterson hasn't played as of yet.

The problem is that he can't get big league hitters out on a consistent basis because there are still some things he needs to work on. Bailey still isn't ready for MLB. Too bad there isn't a AAAA.

HE WAS A ROOKIE! Give him time, you all act like he should have come up and had a 2.00 ERA as a rookie. Give him time, there would not be some much hype if he had no talent.

Rotation

There are kids in college yet to be drafted older than Homer.

So do you all think that Bruce starts in the minors this year?

For 2 months, yes.

Yes, unfortunately.

I'm going to disagree. He's 21. Plenty of time for him, it's just not now.

I'm giving him time, but the time needs to be spent at Louisville, not Cincinnati. It's obvious you love the kid, but the simple fact remains that he is not ready. He threw 60 pitches last night, and couldn't get thru 3 innings.

Affeldt looks like he has just blown his chance at making the rotation, getting rocked tonight. All the promised him was a chance to start and he got it.
