How empty will that place look when NKU plays...they can't fill Regent's.

 

With NKU playing well and getting a nice new arena you would be supprised how a new arena can attract fans.

You could go 9th quarters Mon-Wed. 10th Tues Fri. Semis for both on Sat.

Finals Monday night. That would be the only way to get it done in a week at one location. Another idea would be to have the quarters elsewhere on Mon and Tue. Then bring the semis in, one region Thur, one Fri and have the finals on Sat.

 

With having the boys and girls tournaments, I would say that you could have each district champ host a runner-up (the gender that has the state tournament first would have the 1st round games on Monday and the other would have the first round games on Tuesday)....Wednesday would be an off day.....SFs for the gender that has the state tournament first could go on Thursday and Friday with the other gender going on Saturday.....Finals same format as previously stated with one gender having the finals on Saturday and the other having it on Monday.

Monday - Boys QFs at host sites all games at 7 pm

 

Tuesday - Girls QFs at host sites all games at 7 pm

 

Wednesday - off day

 

Thursday - 9th Region Boys SFs with games at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

 

Friday - 10th Region Boys SFs with games at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

 

Saturday - 9th Region Girls SFs with games at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Saturday - 10th Region Girls SFs with games at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Saturday - 9th Region Boys Final at 6 p.m.

Saturday - 9th Region Boys trophy presentations will follow game and last approximately 15-20 minutes

Saturday - 10th Region Boys Final at 8:15 p.m.

Saturday - 10th Region Boys trophy presentations will follow game and last approximately 15-20 minutes (this would be when each winning team would be allowed to cut down the net from one goal each)

I like it except for the dist champs hosting a QF game. Can you imagine if Highlands hosted CCH or Holmes in a 1st round regional? Wouldn't work

If Stan Steidel is involved, I did not see anything about hosting the Class "A" state tournament.

I have heard too that we may see this in the near future.

 

How will Mason County react to that??!!

One of the huge benefits that was mentioned in the article is the opportunity for the eventual champions to get experience playing in a large venue. This will be the largest basketball regional venue in the state. It will give the players valuable experience and familiarization with an arena setting before the reach the state tourneys. This is a great thing for the 9th (and maybe the 10th) region! :thumb:

They will also pursue going DI as soon as possible. Great Venue for our region. It will help our teams playing in a sweet sixteen type atmosphere.

From what I have heard, Campbell County is the district in the 37th that is working to host the tournament for the 10th.

I'm interested to see what the attendance at these games is like. I'm imagining a sold out or near capacity crowd. While unlikely, that'd be awesome.

I like it creates a state tournament atmosphere for the kids. And a great chance to play in front of large crowds. Tip of the hat to NKU and 9th region basketball.

The only thing that I can say to this is that it works in the 6th and 7th Regions.
