He had a couple of good years at the plate to help offset the crummy ones (which were many) and pedestrian ones (which were most of them). Bottom line is he's the evolution of Bud Harrelson (i.e. slightly better bat and glove). People saw backflips and thought that meant he was a complete-player SS, when he was really only just an upgrade of the old-school SS.

My top three would be Oscar, Oh and Moon.

Big O. The man averaged a double double in the NBA. He carried the hapless Cincy Royals forever and then showed his team abilities with the Bucks and Kareem.

Ozzie is definitely one of my all-time favorites. Couldn't vote for anyone else over him.

He had more than a couple of good years as the plate. Look at his career stats. 2450 hits is a lot of hits and also the best defensive SS of all time.
