Looks like Kidd will go back to Dallas in what looks like a pretty big trade. He will be joined by Malik Allen, while Dallas will send Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, Desagana Diop, Devean George, Maurice Ager, and possibly a first rounder this year, a 2010 first rounder and $3 mil in cash.

Stackhouse will likely be bought out by the Nets if the trade happens and could return to Dallas after 30 days. Diop and George have expiring contracts.

I dont get the trade for Dallas. They have really invested in Harris being their PG of the future and Kidd is really getting up there in age. It really depletes their depth and they lose one of their big bodies in Diop who would play a lot in going up against Duncan, Shaq, Gasol, etc. I know they have to make salaries match, but it seems like they are givig up an awful lot.

The Mavs will be much better this time around. I still remember thinking Kidd, Mashburn and Jackson would make the Mavs a contender back in the mid '90's.

Ah, it does bring back memories of the JJJ combo.

...and don't forget Toni Braxton.

New Jersey is robbing Dallas in this deal.

I agree 100%. I thought that the Mavs could have stayed put and had a really good chance in the west. Maybe a big low post scorer away from a championship.

I like the deal for the Mavs. Jason Kidd is still one of the top PG's in the NBA, and could be the thing that puts the Mavs over the top. Because just like the Suns, the roster they had now has produced zero rings.

Well, both Phoenix and Dallas have mortgaged the future for the chance at a championship this year and next. One of them is going to come out looking like a fool...

In a separate deal that flew a little under the radar, the Nets also sent Antoine Wright to Dallas for a future second round pick. Don't be surprised if Wright takes off.

The whole teams being prepared for the future talk always gets me. I mean you always here people say well that will hurt them in the future. But if you are always worrying about the future, when are you going to play for NOW? I mean I believe for both of those teams their time to try to make a run is now. You can't always just keep building for the future, you have to have a time for when you go for it right then and there.
