MexicanBob Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 They are now 11-9, 5-2 in the SEC (4-1 vs East teams). They have already beaten Vandy, and UT at home. If they can win the rest of their home games plus steal two on the road. That will put them at 10-6 in league play and 16-13 overall, with a likley 2nd place East finish. Throw in a split in the SEC tourey and they are 17-14 overall. The committee would have to take into consideration the injuries affected the first sememster record. Does that get them in?
cshs81 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 They will not be on the bubble until they get to about 18 wins. Vandy's win is now looking less and less impressive unfortunately. 17 wins will not get them in.
pnthr4life Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Going by what you posted I say there is no way they get in. The only way they get in is if they win the SEC tourney.

DADDY CAT Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I think that they can lose 2 games, no more than 3, the rest of the way out if they have any real shot at the NCAA tourney.
HT721 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Not on the bubble and in my opinion have no shot of the bubble unless they win at Vandy, at Tennessee, and Florida at home on senior day. Anything short of those three wins to me would mean the SEC tourney is a must to go dancing.
bugatti Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Not even close. With their earlier losses (injuries or not), they are going to have to hit 20 wins to be considered bubble worthy. I really think their best shot is to finish in the top 2 of the East, and hope they are healthy enough to win the conference tourney.
mobaar Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 They can't lose 4 more regular season games and get in. I think they can only lose 2 more (@UT and @Vandy/vs. UF). Then they would still need to pick up a game or two in the SEC tourney. The good news is that I think they can win both @ Vandy, and vs. UF. The COULD win @UT, but it will be tough. The could also lose to pretty much anyone though.
spe690 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 The only chance that they become a bubble team is if they can only manage to lose 2 more regular season games, then at least make it to the 2nd round or maybe even the semis of the SEC tournament. If they end the regular season 18-11, then there is a good chance they can make the tournament. They need good showings on the road against Vandy and UT, and to beat the Gators at home.
EJHS Fan #98 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 12-4 in the SEC plus make it to the finals had better get us in.
HT721 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Ole Miss at home could be a tough game too considering it is sandwiched between Arkansas and @ Tennessee.
Hangman Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Pssh? Bubble team? 1 seed more like it. They've still got a significant amount of work to do before they're considered.
5wide Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 If they go 6-3 down the stretch and then reach the SEC tournament championship game they'd be... 20-13 I think that would definitely have them on the bubble. They're not there now, but they've at least positioned themselves to have a chance with a strong finish to the regular season (minimum of 6 W's) and a good showing in the SEC tournament. If it gets close, I think they'll get strong consideration because they struggled early with injuries, but they're obviously a far better team down the stretch. I think the committee will look hard at that. I'm not sure what the committee thinks...but me personally, I'd be more likely to pick a team that struggled early and was playing strong down the stretch....fair or not. I'd want the teams playing the best in the tournament.
UKMustangFan Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Back when they were 2-2 in conference, the ESPN crew said if they went 9-3 the rest of the way, they'd get in.....So far they're 3-0 since then.
MexicanBob Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 my bad. if they sweep the rest of their home games and steal two more on the road, that would make them 12-4 in SEC play, 18-11 overall. WHich would be good enough with 1 win in the tourney to get them in. I think
