February 7, 200818 yr People are forgetting that they have 2 road wins on the season. They have to step it up on the road to even be remotely considered on the bubble.
February 7, 200818 yr my bad. if they sweep the rest of their home games and steal two more on the road, that would make them 12-4 in SEC play, 18-11 overall. WHich would be good enough with 1 win in the tourney to get them in. I think 2 more road wins would put them at 4 road wins on the year. You honestly think that is good enough?
February 7, 200818 yr They're in double digits in the RPI now. Up to 97. Now nipping on the heels of South Carolina(87), Minnesota(86), Cincy(85), and UAB (84).
February 7, 200818 yr Playoffs, we are talking about playoffs???:irked: I just want to win the next game...... Seriously, it imo is not out of the question entirely but there is so much that will have to fall in place. U.K. imo cannot lose over 1, maybe 2 more and have shot, jmo. I just want to see us get Meeks and Bradley back now and stay healthy and continue to improve as we have been.
February 7, 200818 yr Pssh? Bubble team? 1 seed more like it. Anything less out of this years pairings and it will be an obvious NCAA bias against the Cats..........................
February 7, 200818 yr No way the get in unless they win the SEC I don't see them winning out and they could drop either the Arkansas and Ole Miss game. I don't think they beat Vandy,Tennessee, and Florida either. I see probably 4 more lossses in the future. I will say this recent win streak has the NIT absolutely thrillied!
February 7, 200818 yr The "Last 10 Games" stat will make or break them. I agree. It doesn't help that Florida is the last game.
February 7, 200818 yr The could also lose to pretty much anyone though. That's the key IMO. They can't lose to anyone that isn't Tenn, Vandy, Fla, Miss, or Ark. Plus they can probably only lose 2 or 3 of those.
February 7, 200818 yr I agree. It doesn't help that Florida is the last game. 1. They barely lost to Florida @ Florida so why is it so bad to play them AT HOME in the last game?

Why shouldn't they beat Vandy or UT? They already did once. Florida they barely lost too and the officiating was spotty, plus it was at Florida!
February 7, 200818 yr At this point, I feel they are definitely a "bubble" team. The trend over the past few years in the tourney has been the success of the Mid-Major teams, i.e. Gonzaga, George Mason, etc. The committee knows that Mid-Majors=Cinderellas. Which in turn could equal upsets, which then again should lead to better ratings. Now, is the committee going to make a poster child out of a "bubble" UK team that has a 18-13 record per se, and take a league runner-up out of a Mid-Major conference? Or, do they go after the money that UK and its fans bring to the tournament? Regardless, for UK to have a chance, they need quality wins, and several of them. Its my understanding that the proverbial umbrella to get into the DANCE in regards to RPI is 70. The Cats MUST win out at home, giving, as of now, quality wins over ARK, Ole Miss, UF, and possibly Bama. Win at least one game in the SECT, and I think they are in. Seventeen (17) regular season wins, and one win in the SECT, with an RPI under 70, and I think they are in..... My $.02 worth............
February 7, 200818 yr UK has to take it one game at a time which is what I think Billy G has them doing. Do whatever it takes to win the next game and if they keep doing that I think they will be alright. On a side not, after about the top 6-8 teams in the country, I bet noone would want to see this UK team healthy and in the same bracket!! They are getting tough both mentally and physically, and that tends to make up for talent!!
February 7, 200818 yr If they beat Alabama they are 6-2 in the SEC. If they duplicate that in the second 8 games, they are in. If they go 5-3, it'll take 2 wins in the SEC tourney. While the early season losses aren't pretty, the committee always takes into account who is hot at the right time. If Kentucky finishes up strong, the selection committee will pay attention.
