Former personal trainer Brian McNamee has turned physical evidence that he believes will show Roger Clemens used performance-enhancing drugs over to federal investigators, his attorneys told the New York Daily News.

"This is evidence the government has that we believe will corroborate Brian in every significant way," McNamee lawyer Earl Ward told the Daily News.

 

The lawyers wouldn't discuss what the evidence is, but a source told the Daily News that McNamee gave vials with traces of steroids and human growth hormone, as well as blood-stained syringes and gauze pads that might contain Clemens' DNA, to the Justice Department's BALCO investigators.

 

The evidence has been sent to a lab for testing, and prosecutors might seek a court order for a DNA sample from Clemens if the evidence contains traces of drugs and blood, the Daily News reported.

 

McNamee kept the vials, gauze pads and syringes from the 2000 and 2001 seasons because he feared Clemens would deny using performance-enhancing drugs, the source told the Daily News.

Weird that he kept it and that he ever thought he'd need it for evidence but IF this comes back true then it's OVER for Clemens and he would then be charged with perjury wouldn't he?

Clemens is about to run out of luck, from the way it sounds.

Now why in the world would he keep hold of these items for this length of time given that they were such close friends? Up until recently he would have had no reason to suspect such things would be needed to corroborate his side of an unseemly story involving his former buddy. I think he's telling the truth about Clemens, but this story sounds odd. He held these things for 6-7 years???

True but people keep records of things all the time to protect themselves in case of stuff (payments, receipts, etc..)

 

Yes it's weird but maybe this was during the talks of having drug testing implemented into the next collective bargaining agreement.

Is there anyway that he could have mixed things together to get a positive test. I'm sure there isn't, but couldn't he take something that he knew was Clemen's blood and mix that with a performance enhancement?

Not sure but you'd think the people doing the test would be able to determine how old the blood sample was or atleast a fresh sample or older sample.

Well he had to know what the effects would be if he accused so and so of doing drugs.

 

So you would think that he went into the whole thing VERY well prepared, so if this latest evidence is true, just further proof that we can't trust anyone in professional sports when it comes to denials of steroid use.

Who knows, if Clemens did but if a guy "professes" to keep this kind of stuff, for 7 years....tells me all I need to know about him.

No way the guy is stupid enough to do something like that right now given all the scrutiny this will be given and, oh yeah, he'd be breaking the law (again).

That's what JBCousins and I discussed last night. IMO, doesn't mean much. If there's HGH or steroids in the syringe, it doesn't mean Clemens used it. Obviously he has needles with his blood on it from the "B-12 injections". Clemens will make every wonder how he got HGH or roids in the same needle that he used for his "B-12 injections".

 

Again, this is going to be nearly impossible to truly prove...
