Like all associations there are good and bad officials.

 

I've experienced both 9th and Bluegrass officials and have friends in both.

 

There are several from both associations that can work any game that we ever play and there are some that are downright incompetent and you know that they are going to be inconsistent.

 

The major differences that I have noticed is that the 9th Officials all want to be chummy - even during the course of the game, whereas the Bluegrass guys are all business on the court - very professional.

 

To some coaches in the 9th this may come off as standoffish, but personally I prefer it that way.

A win is a win is a win but...a miracle comeback to beat the Camels and avoid going 2-6 in their last 8 is not exactly where Colonel Nation thought it would be. And, Holmes is sitting at 20-1.

My opinion only.... the 10th region has never really accepted the teams from the Campbell County area since the day the area was moved in. So having 10 region officials is not an advantage to our area. The best officials in this region rarely show up north of the Pendleton border.

 

They seem to have accepted Brossart however, tough to play there.

Colonels force OT, defeat Camels

Tough loss for the Camels, they dominated the whole game and quickly gave up a 10 point lead with many questionable calls and sloppy ball handling by the Camels. I also agree....what is really a charge?? I think this crew needs to go back and watch this game and see just exactly what they "think" a charge may be. And too many no calls. With an aggressive team such as the Colonels to only have 1 foul in the second half late in the game to the Camels 10 seems a little unlikely to me. BUT with all that said, this Camel team needs to learn to win and that is something the Colonels have no problem with. I also think that this Cov Cath team gets many calls due to the presence of Coach Listermann on the sidelines....very respected coach but should not get the calls because of that. Camels need to learn to win, hit the free throws down the stretch and keep playing hard. Defensively are playing well but offensively still too much passing for me, but then I do love an up tempo transition basketball game.

This frustrates me. I wasn't at the game, but from what I have garnered from this thread, sounds like Campbell had some ball handling problems, and I also know that they are a young team.

 

Why in the world can't CovCath press the entire game? Obviously it sprung a miracle comeback. This team has so much talent and more important so much more depth then anyone but Holmes. I know they are in great shape and could press the whole game. If CCH would full court press more often, they would run teams out of the gym.

 

I guess the mindset is practice that half-court game to get ready for Holmes but it sure is annoying to hear about a team with so much athleticism, speed, versatility, and depth to have to go down to the wire so much.

What was the turnover totals for both teams? You can't throw the ball away three times in the last 54 seconds and expect to win. If the Camels had taken three ten seconds calls trying to get the ball across the midcourt line they wouldn't have been any worse off. They are still playing pretty good defense and that should bode well for the rest of their schedule and during tournament time.

Grimes, Shover, Maile, Bondick, Roll, Schmerge, Noll are all major contributors. Counts, Ives, Sorrell, can all help.

 

IMO you can press for at least a half with 7 and I don't see a lot of NKY teams being able to deal with that pressure.

So you would be giving up scoring ability on the offensive end hoping to gets points off of defense with the above.

 

This is not one of the more athletic or quick teams that CCH has had so the press is not an automatic positive IMO. Can you do it sporadically? Sure but you can't build your game plan around it.

Name a high school team in the time frame you are talking about that pressed or presses the entire game.

Where was that famous CovCath cheering section last night? I went and didn't see one student from CovCcath at the game. Were they on strike until they played better?:lol:
