2008 NKY Freshman Invitational Tournament played at CovCath

Featured Replies

I heard that one freshmen basketball player lost his lunch during Dale's football conditioning today. I was told he didn't give up easy and kept on plugging away.

Too bad about that, I heard the veterans had a more challenging road course than the newbies.

Doesn't Willie move any Frosh players up to JV level?

I dont see why he couldnt. This would be a good time for them to practice more with the JV/VArsity and dress. However they seem to already have all the seats taken on the bench.

Neither team played well offensively. They got their points on steals, breaks, and offensive rebounds. I didn't see many sets tonight that resulted in points.

You are right about points off sets, but scoring off steals and breaks means you're probably playing good defense, and you established some sort of transition game, and scoring off offensive rebounds means your doing a good job on the boards and getting the second shot. Give the kids a break. Cov Cath is a very tough team inside and out, and they played Boone very well for the second time this year. Even Cov Cath's BIG men made some good outside shots and the guards drove to the basket pretty well. If you have watched Boone at all this year, you would notice that they don't run the sets that they are supposed to run. Crabtree and Brown should be able to force a double team every game, if they would run the called sets. Great job for both teams to make it an exciting double OT game! Maybe it just looked like they didn't play well because of the pace. There's more to playing well than just a great offense.

You read WAY too much into my comment. I didn't say the teams didn't work hard or play good defense. I simply said neither ran very good offenses. That's only one part of the game. They both played strong aggressive defense and got after it very well. Effort often can overcome a lack of efficiency . The big boy getting double digit rebounds and getting points off of many of them supports that.

That is pretty sad. How much pressure do you think that poor kid gets at home let alone having to play in front of that type of behavior in public. We all have yelled a few things and regretted it but to leave your seat and stomp down bleachers. To wait outside for referees as if they are going to acknowledge him at all, that is just sad.

He did not just wait outside to see if they would acknowledge them. He walked right up to them and started going at them again, after he admitted to being the one yelling at them the entire game. Did anyone else notice how no other fan sat near him? it was as if they were expecting this behavior.

Back to the CCH/ Boone game, does anyone have the link to the stats?

The Dixie/SK was a nailbiter, no team led by more than 3 or 4 points until the last minute. Very physical intense game. Dixie will need a momumental effort to keep Boone from cutting down the nets.

I have to hope this wasn't the case. If it was, then that's a knock on CovCath for having very poor security in place.

If it went down this way, things could have gotten much more ugly fast, and that's a shame.

I wasn't there, but it sounds to me like if the guy acted this way, he should have found his way to his car sooner than later.

I know for a fact that this is how it went down, as I was in the line at the concession stand. Deters went outside, maybe even escorted after the game. He came back into the building, I guess to wait for his son, and as soon as the refs came out of the referee room for the next game, he approached them.

I also know that at least two different CCH personnel sat down with him, during the game, I am guessing in an attempt to get him to chill a little bit. Obviuosly did not work

Let's get back to the Tournament and not off the court issues.

I believe the smaller schools have there own tournament, however if they had a very good team, they would have been invited to the bigger school tournament.

I was also outside the gym. Cov Cath Security was immediately there and there was an escort for the officials to and from the locker room.

Any thoughts on Boone/Dixie saturday night? I'm going looong here and saying Boone by 2. Even though I secretly wish Dixie by 4.

I too would like to see Dixie win, but I think Boone will win big, very big maybe even by 20. Dixie has no one who will be able to even slow down the big guys for boone
