2008 NKY Freshman Invitational Tournament played at CovCath

Having a "good team" and being invited does not equate. However the small school tourney was a very good frosh tourney.

 

Calvary knocked out Walton in the consolation game 46 -42 and Newport defeated Beechwood in the championship.

 

 

Best game of the tourney was the Newport 80 Augusta 60 game. No that is not a misprint................

Correct. The final of that game is by no means indicative of how good a game it was. For a frshman team to put up 60 and lose speaks well of the opponent. Newport has a nice freshman team. Two other very good games were Walton versus Newport with the Wildcats coming out on top by 4 and the Calvary/Augusta game.

It was a good game. I am not sure of the ages of the other teams. But Augusta started 3 freshmen and the rest were all 8th graders. They will be a fun team to watch grow. They were also missing a couple of players due to the Brossart JV game.

Newport had a few very athletic skill players on their football team. Their QB and a running back I want to say. I imagine that they are both a force on the basketball court as well?
