Hangman Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 It's my understanding that there's some very bad weather hitting at least the eastern side of the state... I don't know how true this is but I heard from Prestonsburg to at least the Mountain Parkway, it is nothing but solid ice... Please everyone be safe if you are out in this.
SvFan4life Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 According to someone that works on the roads during the winter they have shut down US 23 from Shelbiana to Prestonburg for a couple of hours to try and salt the roads and de-ice them. There have already been at least 7 wrecks on US 23 this morning. My buddy was also on his way back to Morehead this morning and police were stopping all traffic going through Prestonburg. Be safe everyone!!!
The Professor Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 It's awful here in Owsley County. I haven't been out this morning, but a friend who works in Booneville said there had been around 15 accidents already. We got freezing rain this morning. One section of Rt 11 between Booneville and Oneida was closed down for a while due to several wrecks on a steep hill. And a woman's car slid into a bridge just outside of town, jumped the rail, and went into Buck Creek. She was trapped and had to be cut out of the car, but wasn't hurt too bad. It's not a good time to be on the road.
Watusi Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I had to stop and fish a guy out of the creek this morning. He had run off the road and turned over. Luckily he wasn't hurt too bad, just shaken up and frozen. Everyone please be careful.
Jim Schue Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Nothing more than about an inch of snow here in Bardstown, so I guess we missed the worst of it. Be careful over there in the mountains, folks.

Our local (WSAZ) forecast was wrong again , wasn't supposed to start untill around noon today and melt as it hit.............More snow forecasted tonight.

The snow has melted now. Yep, great job road crews, top notch work. You only have a dozen or so of these type incidents a year, great anticipation and work. Ever hear of RADAR? As my brother-in-law who works for the state road dept. is sleeping in this morning, I passed 12 cars wrecked on the interstate, not the backroads, the flippin' interstate. Kudos, roadcrew!
SkipToMyLou Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 About an inch here in Mt. Olivet. Everyone be careful and if you can stay off the roads as much as possible
