Rose Hill 62 Elliott Co 55

Agreed they were the better team last night and about the same time you were hitting this response I was hitting mine to LRCW and giving Rose Hill credit. Again I am impressed with the talent of that team.

Ferguson is the straw that stirs Elliott. If he's not on they are not going to win. The twins are good, but without Ferguson, Elliott is not nearly as good. He was hitting everything against Raceland.

I agree Elliott goes as Ferg goes. They absolutly have to have this kid making shots or their just an average team at best IMO. Why were they not pressing the whole game? That is a way to offset poor shooting but they decide to pick up at half court half the night? No way they are a top 10 team right now.

They only made 16 shots and some Free Throws. If you dont make shots it is very hard to set up your press.

First of all congrats to the Royals. To me it was simple,Elliott was cold shooting and out coached.I hope Elliott can come away from this with something positive. They are a great bunch of young men and hardworking.

I tend to agree with you. Why do you think they were out coached?

Here is the question to ponder? And I'll take all answers objective or bias.

If Elliott shoots 53% and Rose Hill shoots 28% and Elliott is even in rebounds vs. getting beat badly, then is it still a 1 point game with under a minute to play?? I would read the stat line without looking at the score and think RH won by 25. That however was not the case. It was anybody's game inside one minute. Let the responses go!!!

If the ref would not have put Elliott on the line so much in the 4th quarter then it would have been worse and never got close within a miute to go. Besides that is not how it unfolded, RH deserves all the credit for the hard work and Coach Fraley and his staff have done a great job preparing these boys

The win by Rose Hill is very impressive and they deserve all of the credit in the world. That being said I still believe that Elliott County is clearly still the best team in the 16th region.

I don't think Elliott shoots that poorly again. I'm sure the Royals defense had something to do with it. But if the shooting percentages were reversed than I don't think the game remains close.

To me the biggest stat though, was rebounding. You cannot get beat on the boards that badly and win a game. That was the most suprising stat that from the game.

Ferguson hit all those shots against Raceland because he was "WIDE" open. Almost every shot he took was uncontested. Last night Coach Fraley had Tony Arthur and the others right up in Ferg's grill, getting a hand in face on every shot, making it much harder for him to hit shots.

I watched the game tapes and Ferg had about as many uncontested shots against Rose Hill as he did against Raceland. He always draws the opposing teams best defender and is used to being pushed, hacked, and having a hand in his face while shooting. Last night was no different, they just didn't fall.

I agree. In the other 17 or so games Elliott has played this year, all the other teams besides Rose Hill doubled up on others and left Ferguson out there by himself to shoot the ball. That's why (according to the Lexington Herald) he's the leading scorer in the state.:thumb:

I feel like that coach Mays did not make adjustments during the game.Elliott has always been a run and gun offense and hardley ever plays the slowdown game. But, lastnight they slowed down and they looked out of sinc so to speak. The press is not effective if you are not hitting shots and they (Elliott) played a zone defense on one possession. The zone worked on that particular possession and was never seen again.Again the shots were not falling so it effected everything they tried. Hope this explains my comment.

This is a typical comment. When the team does well, the players did it, but when they fail the coach is at fault. This is a team and let's equally place the blame. Tomorrow is a new day, for the team(and the coach is part of it, not the sole reason for a loss). Good luck lions, I'll always support you, win or lose.

It would be hard for even the top coach in the nation to coach and win when his team shoots 28 percent.

I understand what you are saying, but also disagree with you. Sometimes the players shoot 28 percent because they are out of position or not in the proper Offense.
