What if they have a losing record? I know as a fan we want to see UK play all the time but is this tournament showing how college sports are all about money if a team with a losing record makes it.

Pride maybe, I guess I'm more curious to know if the fans would actually want to watch UK in this tournament.

And most likely Rupp will still be nearly full for those games as well. Because I guessing just like the NIT some games will be on teams home courts...

I would hope that they would accept the invite...

UK is NIT bound. If they finish with a .500 record or a record just below that, which i believe they will, there is no way they don't get an invite to the NIT. UK is the #2 most valuable college basketball program from a $$$ view. Just the type of draw the NIT would love!

I think they would look bad in the eyes of everyone by not participating. Why not participate and get a couple weeks of practice and playing in? Who knows, Kentucky might win, which would be a great winning experience for kids who haven't enjoyed much of that recently.

I'm not sure you can participate in the NIT with a losing record. Does anyone know?

They should accept, they have nothing really to be ashamed of, they play hard their just not very good.

Should we make a banner that says that?

So you think that UK fans will pay to come watch them play in a 3rd tier tourney? I'd be stunned.

1. How it looks to others is irrelevant.

2. As I said before, the practice time thing sounds good but its really no big deal. They can get more by doing one-on-one workouts on specific skills unless you think that BCG will treat this as an exhibition and let everyone get in and work on things. In reality, the same players that have played all year are still getting the reps while the others are practice fodder. How is that helping Mike Williams?

3. If UK has the season it appears they are going to have, I'll be glad its over so they can start TRULY working on what needs to be worked on instead of doing game specific prep work. Cut our losses and move on.

But that's just me - as is obvious by the previous postings.

You can not play in the NIT with a record below .500...

UK will always have a good crowd... even if the regulars don't come, people who usually can't get tickets would love the chance to take their kids to watch UK play in Rupp.

I didn't think so either. I don't see UK going over .500..

Let's see....over 19,000 came to watch them play Florida International at noon on New Years Eve when many fans were in Nashville to watch the football team in the Music City Bowl later that same day, and at which time they were 5-6 coming off a home loss to San Diego. Of course UK fans will come to watch.

Personally, I think it would be awesome if Ky were to go down as the first team ever to win this prestigious tournament. You bet they should accept this bid.

You're forgetting that on New Year's eve, a)most people are off and b)its not March Madness. If we're assuming that they will be in this god-awful tournament because they weren't even good enough to qualify for the lame NIT, that means they will have continued their awful showing through the rest of the season. So, you think 23,500 are showing up under those conditions?
