January 22, 200818 yr Personally, I think it would be awesome if Ky were to go down as the first team ever to win this prestigious tournament. You bet they should accept this bid. How about if we just take an invitation to the D2 national tournament and win it? Would that be "awesome?" Folks, we're getting invited to this tourney because WE SUCKED the entire season! I'm supposed to feel good about that? I wouldn't watch this tournament if they gave me center-court free tickets and sat me next to the centerfold from the Miss Hooters 2008 calendar.

January 22, 200818 yr Honestly, right now, we might be a little bit optimistic here. WITH this tournament there will be 113 teams in post-season play. The directors say they will stick with the same type of selection process as the NCAA and NIT. This means they will likely use the RPI or something similar, overall record, and conference record. And although they have no rule against a sub-.500 team, they don't envision that happening because there are too many good teams out there. With that said... UK's RPI this week...#183. It's sad but they're NOT EVEN CLOSE!
January 22, 200818 yr So you think that UK fans will pay to come watch them play in a 3rd tier tourney? I'd be stunned. As I stated earlier, true UK fans would pay to watch them play in an exhibition tournament against the Harlem Globetrotters.

January 22, 200818 yr UK will finish the season in the top 100 RPI. Mark it down. How will they pull that off?? They are 17 spots away from 200
January 22, 200818 yr How will they pull that off?? They are 17 spots away from 200  Obviously, he is predicting they are going to start winning more.
January 22, 200818 yr How will they pull that off?? They are 17 spots away from 200  Just behind Long Island and Weber State...

January 22, 200818 yr I don't think Kentucky should accept a bid to any tournament other than the NCAA tournament. Hasn't the big problem all season long been health? Let's use the extra time to fully recover. Give the kids a break, and let them get ready for next season both mentally & physically. With that said, none of this will matter when Kentucky wins the SEC tournament.
January 22, 200818 yr How excited are recruits going to be when you say "we played in the BCI this year!!"???
January 22, 200818 yr You're forgetting that on New Year's eve, a)most people are off and b)its not March Madness. If we're assuming that they will be in this god-awful tournament because they weren't even good enough to qualify for the lame NIT, that means they will have continued their awful showing through the rest of the season. So, you think 23,500 are showing up under those conditions? a) these games will be played at night when most people are off work b) the game are scheduled for nights when there are no NCAA tournament games I just don't see any reason why fans wouldn't attend such an event.
January 22, 200818 yr How excited are recruits going to be when you say "we played in the BCI this year!!"??? I would say playing in it would be better for recruiting (televised games) than not playing in it.
January 22, 200818 yr Here is a link to a mock field had this tournament been in place last year: http://www.gazellegroup.com/cbi/cbi_mockbracket07.pdf There are no sub .500 teams in this mock field.
