Now we're supposed to go into the houses of these recruits and say "hey, we made the BCI last year. Yay!!!"??? If I'm a big time recruit, I want a coach who is going to get me to the promised land and only the promised land(remember, I'm young and naive). I want a coach coming in saying "we sucked so bad last year and its unacceptable for us to only be good enough to qualify for a 3rd tier tourney. We need YOU to help us get back to where UK fans want and deserve! The BCI and the NIT is completely unacceptable and ,yes, its below us. If it were acceptable to us, you should run to Roy Williams as fast as possible and not settle for a school that settles! Do you want Gus Johnson yelling your name in the NCAA tourney or do you want to settle for some guy fresh out of calling high school games reciting your accomplishments? I know which one I'd want and YOU can help US get back there. If you are OK with the BCI, we don't want you. You with me or not?" Something like that.

But, couldn't Billy G. say about the same thing even if they played in this tournament. He could tell the recruit that even though they played in the BCI, they are not happy with where UK is and need him to come in and be the one to lead UK back to the promise land. It could work both ways.

It could work both ways. So you took an invitation that you weren't happy with? Why not get to work on making yourself better and let some other team who would be thrilled with the invitation play? Again, if I fancy myself as a stud player, I want a coach with high expectations and high standards of measuring success. It would make a HUGE statement with recruits who a)don't really know UK's history and b)think they are big time players and have huge aspirations.

First, like I said earlier, I don't think they'll even get invited the way things look. However, if they do, I agree with you. I sends a great message to your team, fans, potential recruits, and the nation. If you DO go, you tell your seniors, "Thanks, we didn't meet acceptable levels of expectations this season. We're preparing for next season," and you leave them behind--what good is the extra practice and games for these players anyway. But, what happens if you win the whole thing? Do you take the trophy or leave it on the podium and give to the runner-up?

I sends a great message to your team, fans, potential recruits, and the nation. If you DO go, you tell your seniors, "Thanks, we didn't meet acceptable levels of expectations this season. We're preparing for next season," and you leave them behind--what good is the extra practice and games for these players anyway. But, what happens if you win the whole thing? No, you go into their houses and you say we're building something special and the future is bright. This season was the season that allowed us to lay a solid foundation for a winning program so that we can get the Univeristy of Kentucky back to the level that the fans, the alumni, and the coaching staff know we belong. We have been an elite team, we are an elite team, and will be an elite team for as long as there is NCAA basketball. We want you on board next season because we feel that you are a solid stepping stone into the Final Four and another national championship.:flame:
