January 18, 200818 yr Once again when Brooks does retire, we don't know where we will be at that time. Right now we are doing good, but what happens say if we start to struggle a little bit, and maybe miss out on making a bowl. Would you all still be happy with hiring someone from a staff that is struggling, and not even really looking to go elsewhere for a coach to bring in a new energy. I don't think we should settle on already, on having a coach who has no head coaching experience, and was never even a offensive coordinator until we gave him the job. Right now it looks great since we are doing good, but that don't mean we will still be in this position when Brooks retires. So as I have said I just not a big fan of that at the moment... No offense futurecoach but...relax!!! Let's cross that bridge when we get to it.
January 18, 200818 yr ^Florida State just did the same thing with OC Jimbo Fischer... This is true. Jimbo Fisher will make $720,000 as the coach-in-waiting at Florida State. Is it possible that Mitch Barnhart will pay Joker half that amount?
January 18, 200818 yr That's good news. It will make the coaching transition easier too with the recruits knowing who'll they'll be getting.
January 18, 200818 yr What am I suggesting? If you were one of the fans that bad mouthed Tubby, I suggest you treat Joker better. Amazing...
January 18, 200818 yr I just hope the fans treat him better than Tubby was treated. And I hope Joker doesn't destroy the program.
January 18, 200818 yr Great news. I think Phillips will do a great job, I just hope the fans treat him better than Tubby was treated. I missed this post when I first read the thread, but did you really need to bring that argument into a TOTALLY unrelated thread?
January 18, 200818 yr UK finally gets some momentum in football and then thinks they can just continue by hiring within. I think this could turn out to be a horrible move. This job could be a very appealing job by that time. I bet the BCA has nothing to say about not allowing a prudent search on this one.
January 18, 200818 yr I missed this post when I first read the thread, but did you really need to bring that argument into a TOTALLY unrelated thread? You can't be serious. They are totally related. There's no doubt in my mind why a lot of people didn't like Tubby, and there's no doubt that Joker will face the same problems. Let's don't be blind to the facts.
January 18, 200818 yr What's amazing? That no thread can exist without Tubby for one... That Tubby gets brought up in the College Football Forum (not to mention that it only took two post)... A little surprised at who it is that brought Tubby up... I could go on, but like I said Amazing... Not to mention old...
January 18, 200818 yr Keeping a coach that has been a HUGE part of the recruiting and on the field success that UK has built is the smart thing to do IMO. I really like the move. It adds stability to a program that is on the rise.

Let's don't be blind to the facts. While I won't disagree with you, I think it is on a smaller scale because UK football is not loved like UK basketball.

That's why Tubby was brought into this thread, and as I said above there's no doubt that there will be a lot of fans that won't like Joker for the same reason.

That's why Tubby was brought into this thread, and as I said above there's no doubt that there will be a lot of fans that won't like Joker for the same reason. And a lot of people don't like Obama for the same reasons that doesn't make this thread the place to talk politics... Say what you want and justify it however you wish, but Tubby's got no business in this thread IMO...
January 18, 200818 yr And a lot of people don't like Obama for the same reasons that doesn't make this thread the place to talk politics... Say what you want and justify it however you wish, but Tubby's got no business in this thread IMO... The first black head coach in UK basketball history faced a lot of opposition because of it. Now they prepare to hire the first black head coach in UK football history and making that comparison is not related?
