Interesting. I've never really heard of something like this being announced so far in advance. I'm assuming they're trying to keep him from taking another HC position. I would have to think this helps on the recruiting side of things. It should provide recruits with the sense that there is some continuity within the program.

Great news, but article says Morris is 25-35???

Yes it does.

Brooks, who has a 25-35 record at Kentucky, has a $1 million annual contract that expires in 2010.

Once again, no it doesn't. As you can see thewaterboy states the article mentions Morris, not Brooks.

Great news. I think Phillips will do a great job, I just hope the fans treat him better than Tubby was treated.

My question is this. I hope this don't happen, but say Brooks does stay out for the rest of his contract, and we start struggling again. Is everyone going to be happy that when he does retire, that we would just being hiring from someone on the staff like Joker, even if we have been struggling? Instead of trying to go out and bring some new life into the program?

As I said in my original post, I not to sure if I completely like this idea or not yet. I mean it could also work in the opposite direction and we keep getting better under Brooks, and have UK as a job many people would want to have when he retires, and have a shot to go out and probably get a really good proven head coach. But instead we would be giving a job to an unproven head coach, to carry on our success.

I know we are just trying to keep Joker here, however I just really not sure if I like this move. However I do hope it ends up working out great for us!

Purdue did the same thing with Tiller and Hope. A new trend I guess. Never heard of it until Florida State did this year.

UK did it with Rupp and Hall.
