A.So what draws your attention to them if they don't do something special? The word recruit means to activily persue. So your telling me that a student with a middle school GPA of 2.3 and a PSAT score of 13 is welcome at your school?

 

B. Public schools can not throw kids out and say they have done all they can do for them. So, would you say to have a select envirnment is advantagous? Just curious.

 

A. I don't want to sound holier-than-thou, but we belive that all childern are unique and special in the eyes of God. We do not have an acceptance test. If you have a 2.3 GPA, you are just as welcome as someone with a 4.0 GPA. We activley pursue, students of all types, backgrounds, religions, abilities, ect.

 

B. Yes correct. But there are differences in how this is handled that doesn't break down public and private. When I was in a public high school in the mid 90's, the student that sat beside me in English class was removed from our school due to violent behavior. He was sent to Central Alternative in Lexington. Now this student wasn't removed from the district, but he was placed in a different enviroment. This effectivley changed the enviroment at the school for the better. More rural schools may not have this option. Plus, I would have to say that the enviroment is advantageous. But does that advantage have anything to do with athletics?

You are mistaken...there is no hand picking.

Recruiting is hand picking. You are establishing a target, for what ever reason, and you go after them. Would you agree with that?

We do not handpick our STUDENTS.

We recruit students, not specific students. Those who are interested, take the placement exam. From that point, they are considered students at Trinity. It's not an entrance exam, it's a placement exam. The test is used to place the kids in the classes that are best for their learning needs. We don't turn kids away that test low, and we don't keep just those who test high.

We have had the discussion before about where a kid may go to middle school, and then end up at Lexington Catholic.

 

We are very proud of those numbers. But why don't you go deeper. What's the percentage of the players on those teams that have been students in the feeder schools since day one? What's the percentage of players on those teams who've had older siblings or relatives move through the same school previously? What's the percentage of players on those teams, who have or never will have any tangible impact in a game? What's the percentage of those players who's parents have, since before they were born, decided what High School they would attend?
