Lexington Christian fined over financial aid to athletes

Featured Replies

It is close, Lex Cath was about $5,000 a year and LCA was definately more then that.

$5,000 I would expect and understand, but $10,000 just seems more then I would expect. Wow.

Just heard this on WLEX 18 ... one year probation!

Certainly comes as no surprise to me. Their athletic teams have become way to competitive way to quickly. Apparently we now see the reasons even if you have to read between the lines. A very weak response from the KHSAA with regards to this situation but pretty much par for the course.

Wow, sounds like some of those kids got to go to LCA for the same price they could have gone to Tates Creek or Bryan Station:sleep:

Yeah, but some at LCA got money for their pockets in addition to tuition.

Simply recruiting.

Next.

What does probation mean to Lex Christian's program? What are the actual penalties?

Unreal, how long is the KHSAA going to just slap the private schools on the hand and do nothing.

Split the middle between the two figures and that is what is costs I believe.

The funds were set up through a church to help minority students? I guess LCA needs to be more careful about who pays for their students athletes tuition.

Wow. Some rich guy booster will just write a check.

Good point, the penalty for paying student - athletes tuition is....a fine!

Yet just another eye-opener as to why public schools get so irritated. When given the chance....well...I might as well not go there.

Unreal.

I agree and look at what LCA gets in the football district. Raceland, Fairview, Paris, and Nicholas all of which have limited funds and can't go out and get numerous players every year. It's a bunch a crap public schools got to put up with this stuff every year. No matter what realignment the KHSAA does it won't matter because you are always going to have most if not all private schools in the title games (Football just about every single year). I know this is a discussion about LCA but they are obvious cheaters and shouldn't be allowed to compete for the post season next year, there is a major problem with our high school athletic system if you can do these things and not get banned from somekind of on field action. :fight:

Where is the big private supporters now crying education is why kids go there and all that rah rah...................

They should be more careful? Are you kidding me? We want lawyers, guns, and money, castration and the death penalty when it comes to certain schools, but we urge more jurisprudence with others? Give me a break!

A fine for such a thing is certainly a slap on the wrist. What about the kids eligibility that were "funded" or "assisted" with their tuition while playing sports?
