It went on and was alledged by a former parent and former coach passed over for a position. It is done and the current players/teams should not be punished more than what has taken place.

Not rationalizing cheating at all if LCA cheated in any sport that sport should be punished, just Stating that private schools garner all the attention and you never hear of any improprieties from public schools. Only thing I know for sure is where Baseball team has come from and it is very legit.

Smoothy---Please let me understand. A parent and coach came up with this idea (2 people), raised the $$ needed, and did it and no one else was aware or complicit.......why don't you just insult everyone's intelligence!

What punishment did they get. 13,000 give me a brake thats not a drop in a bucket. For LCA that pocket change. Suspend all involved. Thats what should be done. Make me sick.

Maybe someone can help me with this. LCA started football in 2000 and for the first three years, they were horrible. Then comes in Rains and within three years, they’re beating Beechwood. Having seen LCA’s Middle school football program over the past few years, it’s hard for me to believe those teams in which I saw would be good enough so early to play with the big boys in the state. ;) Now, they’re one of the best programs in Class A. All of this has happen in a matter of five years. Their middle school teams were good but they weren’t great … so that leads to the question … how many of those kids that are on the squad now, played Middle School football at LCA? In college, a coach normally build his football program with junior college players and once those players got settled in, then he would build around them. What did LCA do to build their program so quickly? (I’m not buying the weight room thing :irked:) - A lot of us would like to know what they did to get their program to were it is today, so maybe some of those programs can do the same things LCA did and just maybe one day, they to can compete against the elite each year. This is just a thought and I’m not accusing anyone of anything! :thumb:

LCA 8th grade beat the LC 8th grade in the league championship this year. LC 8th was 21-0 over a 2 year period going into the game. During the regular season LC won easily. But at the regular season game LCA was taking film and still photos during entire game (a practice that more and more middle schools use now). It was obvious in the championship game that the film was studied and tactics were developed to specifically offset the LC 3-4 blitzing defense that is run at the MS level as well as HS level.

LCA has very good, very smart coaches at all levels. It has also built their program over time. LCA and Lexcath have run a flag football league for at least 4 year that goes down to the 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade levels. And they participate in the same MS league with LexCath, Paris, Rockcastle Co and other good MS football schools. So LCA has been developing the 'pipeline' in the proper way over time and hence their success should not be surprising.

That pipeline must be lined with green Ben Franklins allso.:thumb:

You can win it all, But how you get to the end of that road is what makes a winner. One question for you. Did you do it right?

Funny how LCA can beat LC in a 8th grade championship and then refuse to play them for this upcomming season in any high school level.

My point was more to the supreme court decision that said that there cannot be huge differences in educational opportunities and educational funding in different parts of the state.

I do wonder what is going to happen when some parents complain about the unfairness of the magnet school programs in Fayette and Jefferson and others around the state don't have that opportunity.

I don't think this complaining about an "unlevel playing field" will ever happen until there are "state smartness championships" Where are your priorities, man???

That's not exactly the way the KHSAA sees it...as weak as their response was. They say that YOU"RE NOT COMPETING FAIRLY!!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW???

Haven't read all the posts but IMO, from 02-03 thru 06-07 season when this all took place, all the athletic teams that had ineligible players should forfeit all their games and this should reflect in the KHSAA record books. Now, the big question to me is were any athletes in question girls playing on the state championship bball team last yr and also the state baseball championship team. I guess the only thing to do there would be to remove those championship tropy's from the school and give them to the teams they beat in the championship. We all know the KHSAA won't do that but maybe if they did it would make schools, public or private, stop and think what is going on at their respected schools.

I am sure everyone remembers a few yrs back w/Highlands, their record reflects losses when an ineligible player was playing. The state champs w/a record of 2-13? or something like that.

I have a theological question regarding this whole episode...will the parents of the students receiving this assistance be required to return 10% to the church next Sunday?

I dont believe KHSAA passed judgement on the structure of the end to end program. Regardless of any other issues it can not be argued that LCA has worked over time to establish a structure that will likely continue to build and maintain a strong football pogram. Too bad the Fayette County public schools do not replicate it.

As for whether LCA heard the KHSAA or not...at $13,982 - they probably had to turn the hearing aid way up to hear the supposed message.
