So Rose Hill went from one of the top two teams in the beginning of the season to a dark horse now?

 

Rose Hill stepped outside of the 16th Region schedule more than any team in the 16th and lost some games against the elites. I would dare to say some of the other teams in the 16th would have fared the same. Rose Hill should be commended for playing a much more rugged schedule, not the opposite.

9th Region has to be Boone

In the 9th it is either Boone or NCC. HC as mentioned above could possibly make some noise, but their toughest challenge will be to just get out of the district.

Any thoughts on the 14th?

I agree OY. I can't believe I just typed that! East Carter is still #2 in the region due to their defense.

That was not meant as a negative comment toward them. I'm surprised that some are viewing them as a dark horse now and not a favorite like earlier in the season. They only have 1 loss in the region so far, right?

I have been hearing a lot on here about Rose Hill's out of region schedule. I still say Elliott County's schedule has been tougher. They played in the 5/3. While their they played a team from Tennessee who had a 6'11" and a 6'9" then met up with Covington Catholic less then 24 hours later after driving to and from Sandy Hook. They still have Mason County and Huntington High. The sad thing is Im not a Elliott County fan Im just confussed as to why so many people seem to take Rose Hill's back after a .500 season against a questionable schedule. I understand they played in the King of the Bluegrass but the 5/3 had a better field this year. As well as Bath County is playing this year you cant lose at home to them by 20.

Adair Co. is the clear favorite in the 5th, but they will get challenges from North Hardin, Central Hardin, Bardstown, Taylor Co. and possibly Nelson Co.

In the 13th Corbin and Cumberland are the clear cut favorites but don't sleep on Jackson Co. or South Laurel. And if North Laurel's Josh Siedel stays hot they could have an outside chance.

 

You've got to throw Knox Central in the 13th as well.

Corbin and Cumberland at top, but anything can happen.

South was clear-cut favorite the past 2 years and beat 1A Barbourville two years ago by one point and Corbin last season by two.

It's anybody's tourney.

What teams across the State are sleeper or darkhorse teams to win some regions?

 

16th Region

 

I'll say Rose Hill very good talent.

Ashland has a good coach and he knows how to win.

 

What does everyone else think?

 

Personally, I think the Winner of the 64th District(RH, Ashland or Fairview) is the only team that will have a shot to upset Elliott County in the 16th Region.

I think Clark County is the darkhorse in the 10th. I will have to go with Dunbar as the darkhorse in the 11th

10th Region - Campbell Co keeps getting better and better. Their defense will give them an outside shot come tournament time.

If CC wants to have any shot they'll have to learn to close a game. Poor free throw shooting and untimley turnovers have led to their 3 losses.

In the 13th I feel like Jackson Co. could be the suprise team, If they use a steady diet of going into Brumback and a couple of the others step-up big time they could be right there. Does their district seed or draw? Could affect this.

9th - Boone

10th- Clark and Campbell Co

11th - Madison Central

12th - West Jessamine and Somerset

13th-Jackson Co

14th-Hazard

15th-Besides top 2? no one

16th- Elliott is more a lock than Mason in the 10th

In the 10th I'd have to say Clark County. They're flying a little under the radar in the 10th, especially after a loss to Montgomery County, but they're a lot better than they were at the beginning of the year.

 

I totally agree with you Clark County has been flying under the radar and really shouldn't be. They are improving fast and I wouldn't want to have to play them come tourney time.
