Highlands 53 CovCath 52

First of all let me say it was the first cov cath highlands game I have been to and I don't think I will miss another it was great. The atmosphere was good the the talent on the floor was great. I agree with Mcgraw as the best on the floor last night I had no idea he was that good. Grimes missed the front end of a one and one when they were up one late and that hurt. But why does he not get the last shot of the game, he needs more touches. The student sections where great the whole game till after words when all the fights broke out in the parking lot, but that just shows how big this rivialry is.

DMZ you need to lighten up a little. I took the Oldguy's statement as a compliment rather than a bash against the birds. What Willie has this year is several very talented players along with other players who compliment them very well. Nic Simpson and Greg McGraw are definitely among the cream of the crop in NoKy and Stephen Kowolonek has quickly gained a reputation as an up and coming player. Michael Eaton and Zach Hurtt understand there roles and perform them very well along with the sophomores, Ben Watson, Tyler Grubbs and George Grote.

To answer your question Boom, I have seen noone that can guard Greg McGraw one on one, but I have not seen Holmes play yet.

I also took it as a compliment to the Birds and happen to agree with him. What a great rivalry these two schools enjoy!

Welcome Jack! Your assessment is dead on!! But there is an underlying prejudice with referring to FB players on a BB team. Something the way of "second class citizens". I find it somewhat distasteful. I'm sure the FB/BB players do not in any way play down their FB abilities, as a LOT of the traits of a FB player transcend into wonderful skills for BB...and vice versa! It's just a long-time running "burr in the backside" for me (ask Malachicrunch!)

Alright we closed one thread on this game and this is headed down the same road.If you want to start a thread about whether a football player can play basketball please do so.Now lets get it back to the game please.:irked:

Is the Simon boy playing this year?I didnt see him or Stein in the game.

Highlands on Highlands very much needs its own thread.

Great game, great rivalry.

But why bring the state trophy? Didn't anyone think this through?

I think that's pretty much a "shot" at HHS. Are you saying CC isn't tough enough? Then just say it! Multiple sport athletes are just that...athletes. If you have the ability to play basketball for the team...guess what, you're a basketball player. Don't hate the playah...hate the game!

I didn't gather that from his comments at all. I think that he was just stating that this is the first time in awhile that most of the players concentrated on BBAll and it's making a difference.

I just want to see CovCath play again with everyone healthy, hopefully by the end of the month.

I would have brought all 17:D

Luke Stein was going to play ...but his hand needed surgery and that was that. Drew Simons isn't playing...don't know why. Good player, Sr. leader, maybe because Willie doesn't need FB players (LOL)

Great game by the Birds and a mental breakdown at the end by CCH. Cov Cath would have been a different team with Bondick in there but I'm not much for the coulda, woulda, shoulda'z. McGraw showed a lot of people he is the real deal last night and I also thought CCH should have gotten the ball to Grimes at the end. Kowolonek is playing like a veteran also. Dont discount the Roll kid's 3pter at the end of the game, he had some turnovers but they dont even get a chance to go up 1pt if he doesnt hit that big bucket on the prior CCH shot.

I'd say the Holmes/Highlands game will be a dogfight as well.

I would have brought all 17:D

Classy.

Classy.

I'm assuming you meant this sarcastically. If so, I agree that it is not a smart thing to do. To much time and hard work to get that hardware to have it in a Cov. Cath. gym.

So Henry...are you as loud at a b-ball game as a football game??:lol:
