...I believe the young Sophomores for HHS grew up a bit tonite! Nice job Greg and Nic! An earlier poster was absolutely correct when they stated that the regional tourney should be a doozy this year!

I think that's pretty much a "shot" at HHS. Are you saying CC isn't tough enough? Then just say it! Multiple sport athletes are just that...athletes. If you have the ability to play basketball for the team...guess what, you're a basketball player. Don't hate the playah...hate the game!

No it not a knock on HHS at all, this is the first true basketball team that I have seen HHS have in a while. Most of your starter are non football players and that hasn't been the case at HHS in a while.

Man, i bet coach Listerman had a Buster Petty moment tonight. You know, when someone's face turns a shade of Christmas Red!!!!!:lol: Tick-Tick-Tick

I take exception to the adjective "true"...WHY can't a player be considered a basketball player if they also play football? Is football such the "superior" sport?

And that is why I called it the first non football basketball team that I have seen from HHS in a while. I knew that at least four of the five didn't play football but wasn't sure about the fifth....

I'm with ya. I ask the same question about being a football/baseball player. :D

Old Guy. . Are you sure you werent secretly thinking that the Highlands basketball team usually consists of football players trying to throw a ball in a hoop ?

4 of the 5 didn't play soccer? or tennis...or play in the band. They ALL were/are BASKETBALL players. And HHS basketball players beat CC basketball players tonite. HHS football players beat CC football players during football season. My point being: don't try to disparage the athletes by applying stereotypes due to their ability to play more than one sport. It should be applauded, not left-handedly so either!

Question do all the starter play basketball only for HHS? The answer was given.

My point, to the far too eager HHS fans that think that someone is going after their team, is that indeed HHS (IMO) played a very good and smart basketball game tonight and that I haven't seen HHS play this style of basketball when it had a lot of football players starting for the baseketball team.

DMZ, come on now. Surely, as a Highlands fan, you've seen their basketball team play the past couple of years. While they've had some solid squads, most would agree that they had a bunch of football players playing basketball as well. That's not a knock on HHS or the kids who bust their butts all season long.

Congrats to both teams on what sounds like a hard fought battle. An even bigger congratulations to the Birds who were the better team tonight. I'm sorry I missed this one, but hopefully I'll get a chance to catch these two teams square up in the regional tournament.

You are right in this point. I feel that Willy is creating basketball players at Highlands and not just football/basketball/baseball players at Highlands. Congrats to the team and to Willy. He is creating a team of basketball players that are athletes in their sport .

Here are 10 points I noted after the game:

1) Bondick would have have been a huge help tonight. Roll had too many turnovers in late in the game. His 3pter was big though.

2) Why was Schmerge guarding Simpson? That was a bad matchup.

3) Best player on the floor tonight was Greg McGraw, by far.

4) Calling Arron Noll? Arron Noll? Did he have to leave early or something.

5) Mitch Shover is the best true PG in the 9th Region.

6) Did Highlands bring a JV team, wow that was bad score.

7) Luke Maile is a good player who takes too many bad shots.

8) "Hey Coach L, get the ball to Michael Grimes more often"

9) Corey Sorrell or Greg McGraw??? NKU might want to rethink their hometown recruits.

10) This has to be the best rivalry in the state of KY, I don't care what anyone says. If you attend this game every year. 9 out 10 times its going to be barn burner.

OH YEAH DID I MENTION, WITHOUT A DOUBT THESE TWO SCHOOLS HATE EACH OTHER

I beleive I had a thread ----> Birds by 3,:thumb:

What was the score of the JV game?

NKYBOY, I agree with you. I think Grimes needs more touches and Maile forces things. Haven't been able to see the Colonels play too much this year, but I was surprised at how dependent they seemed to be on one player. That's not Covington Catholic basketball.
