I had no idea that Burbank was that old. He was a great one. I would love to get my hands on some of his classic Gilbert Narley tapes.

 

My aunt worked for WHAS 84 in bookkeeping or some other such capacity back in the '70s, and Burbank worked there then. She used to wear these promotional shorts that were white with red trim that had Burbank's face printed on one of the hind quarters and the 84WHAS logo of the time on the other.

Better than the Rush stuff they have been running.

I like Tracy Jones a lot on the weekends after Reds games. He's lightened up quite a bit and the "I played the game" quote is pretty much a running joke on the show (but there is definitely something to it when discussing a lot of topics). I wonder how he'll do in this format though. Seems like an odd choice.

Eddie Fingers is generally pretty funny and he has filled in for Burbank before so that's not a big surprise.

Tough shoes to fill for anyone.

I may be blasphemous but I like Tracy and Eddie MUCH better than Burbank. I could listen to Burbank for about 2 minutes. We now have a strong alternative to Lance's afternoon show.

I've talked in person to Tracy several times and he's a great guy to b.s. with. But he takes on an excessive level of arrogance when he's on the radio. A little bit of cockiness is fine, but he overdoes it. Maybe he'll tone it down a touch now.

Isn't that kind of his job? To be an on-air "personality"? No one on 700 is the same way off the air that they are on the air. It goes back to the whole "I played the game and you didn't" line. It's partially true but it's somewhat of a joke, too--part of his whole on-air persona.

 

I haven't listened to them a lot but when I have, I've liked them.

I caught a little of them this afternoon. Not bad.

Never listened to Burbank, won't listen to his replacements either.
