January 2, 200818 yr And the mighty Gators of the mighty SEC, fall...to who else???? a Big 10 team??? WHAT????????????? I didn't think that could ever happen, especially to Florida. Yup, the 5th best SEC team vs the 2nd best big 10 team, 6 points...
January 2, 200818 yr Yup, the 5th best SEC team vs the 2nd best big 10 team, 6 points... #12 BCS vs #32 BCS...
January 2, 200818 yr Great game by UM. Glad Carr gets to go out on a high note. This game could have easily ended up in a lopsided Michigan win without a few bone-headed turnovers. On the other side of the ball, Tebow played admirably despite the incredible pressure put on by UM's D. First decent Heisman winner bowl performance in a few years.
January 2, 200818 yr Yup, the 5th best SEC team vs the 2nd best big 10 team, 6 points...The SEC homers crack me up. I posted on a different thread about last year the Big Ten#3 Wisc. beat the SEC runner-up in Ark. The replies I got were to the extent that 5 teams in the SEC were better than Ark and they were not the 2nd best team in the SEC. Now this year the story has switched. Come on guys the SEC is not as good as everyone thinks. Over the past 10 years still tied with the Big Ten in head to head bowl wins. Michigan flat out owns the all mighty SEC. Appeared to me the slow Big 10 had the faster players on the field. If Hart does not fumble twice on the goal line this game is not even close. If AA stays and Mallett does not transfer this offense will be sick with the recievers and speed they have.I am also conceeding that MM will leave for the draft or it could be super scary!
January 2, 200818 yr guess I better change my location after todays game! Nah I will update it tommorow
January 2, 200818 yr Yup, the 5th best SEC team vs the 2nd best big 10 team, 6 points... Now, I could be mistaken, but I am fairly certain that UM was NOT the 2nd best team in the Big 10. OSU - Big Ten Champ (7-1) Illinois - 2nd (6-2) Michigan -3rd (6-2) All one would need to do is look at the bowls to see that clearly, NO ONE thought UM was the 2nd best team in the Big 10. If they were, they would have been in the Rose Bowl..... And, by my count UF finished #4 in the SEC. Not to mention that it has been proclaimed by Big 10 and SEC fan alike that the Big 10 is clearly having a down year, and certainly the SEC fans claim regularly that the SEC is "the best conference in college football, hands down". So yeah, I'd say the #3 team in a conference having a down year beating (rather convincingly IMO) the #4 team (and 12th ranked team in the country) from the best conference ever is clearly a good win for the so called "weaker conference".

Convincingly? Hardly. Good win? Yes. UM looked like everyone thought they would at the beginning of the year.
January 2, 200818 yr Convincingly? Hardly. Good win? Yes. UM looked like everyone thought they would at the beginning of the year. On the 1st one, we'll agree to disagree. UM turned the ball over twice inside the 5, 4 times overall (to UF's zero), and STILL won by 6 despite the mistakes. As to the bolded part, so are you admitting that some may have underestimated the Big 10 as a whole? That possibly the Big 10 does have the talent and the speed to compete with the SEC? Just curious.....

January 2, 200818 yr Yup, the 5th best SEC team vs the 2nd best big 10 team, 6 points... Have posted this before but the Sugar Bowl announcers reminded the nation. Last 5 year bowl game matchups 5-3 in favor of Big 10, last 10 yrs 13-13. Not as dominant as everyone thinks!
January 2, 200818 yr Coach Rod must be thrilled. This will be huge for recruiting and positive mojo for the Blue. However, IMO he will not have Mallett next season. He's gone. Thrilled to see a great guy , Carr, go out in style with a smile on his face. Also thrilled to see a fine young man , Englemon, contribute to the W.

Not as dominant as everyone thinks! Maybe it is just me, but I think more of the debate is the depth of the conference. I don't think many can argue about OSU and UM, it is pretty much everyone after that.
January 2, 200818 yr This was a minor upset and I'm happy to see Coach Carr go out like that. He has always seemed classy. I think Florida had a good year with A LOT of young talent. I kind of felt this was a really dangerous game for a yong Gator team with this being Carr's last game and guys like Henne, Hart, Manningham that have a ton of experience but have underachieved bad this year. This game was one of those who has the ball last. I thought Michigan's dline really turned it on late and hit Tebow hard almost every play down the stretch.

You are mistaken on both counts. UM is 2nd in the big 10 because they beat Illinois head to head. UF is 5th in the SEC because Auburn beat them head to head. Michigan is the second best team in the big ten this season. They are only lower in the rankings because of the bad loss in the season opener.
January 2, 200818 yr If anyone taped/dvr this game please let me know. I would like a copy on vhs/DVD. I will check again in the morning.
