January 2, 200818 yr SEC honks have to take this one on the chin. UM played inspired ball, and punched Florida in the mouth, OWNING them. Go figure Hart goes 1,100 carries without a fumble, than lays the pill down twice INSIDE THE FIVE....UF i slucky they didn't get blown out in this one. RON ENGLISH to LOUISVILLE, how sweet it is. Florida did score 35 and they also dropped a wide open TD pass which resulted in an empty red zone trip. That being said, I was impressed with the Michigan defensive scheme for much of the game, but Florida is hard to stop when Tebow is running the ball.....the defensive coordinator appears to be a very good hire for the Cards.
January 2, 200818 yr I do believe that OSU had some players hurting in that one as well. Also, unless I am mistaken didn't both teams have to play on that field:confused: in that same weather condititons? Sounds like exuses to me....LOL. Please, not two of their best players on the team. A quaterback with a bum shoulder and a running back with a bad ankle against Ohio State is a bad combination. I don't remember the Ohio State offense lighting it up all day for the eception of some big runs (a whopping 50 yards passing and 7 for 19 on 3rd down conversions). Ohio State was better, no doubt, but my point was that they didn't play Michigan's best on a beautiful 70 degree day like yesterday.

What I always found to be fascinationg is how much everyone outside of Michigan respected Carr? College coaching sure is a tough gig when you win over 75% of your games over your career and they call for your head.
January 3, 200818 yr Michigan really turned their season around after that embarassing loss to App. St. this was a very fitting end for Carr's coaching career and a good momentum builder heading into spring practice and on into the 2008 season.
January 3, 200818 yr This was a good game to watch, but what surprises me is all the folks on here who are calling Coach Carr a 'classy' guy and singing his praises. There is nothing wrong with that but just a couple weeks ago, there were threads on here discussing how Carr needs to leave.:confused:
January 4, 200818 yr You are mistaken on both counts. UM is 2nd in the big 10 because they beat Illinois head to head. UF is 5th in the SEC because Auburn beat them head to head. Michigan is the second best team in the big ten this season. They are only lower in the rankings because of the bad loss in the season opener. Actually you are mistaken....Ill overall record at the end of the season was 9-3, to Mich 8-4, hints why Ill was in the Rose Bowl and not Mich.

Big Ten standings are not based on overall record, they are based CONFERENCE play. Michigan and Illinois had identical conference records. The first tiebreaker for teams with an identical conference record is head to head play. Michigan beat Illinois, at Illinois by the way. Therefore Michigan was #2 in the Big Ten standings. Good try though... To address your hints... BCS At large selections are based on this criteria and it is why Illinois was chosen to attend the Rose Bowl (http://www.bcsfootball.org/bcsfb/eligibility).
