January 3, 200818 yr They pretty much HAVE to sign Andrews. No way you spend that much time in development and let him go now. I'd like to see Landon and Dahani return as well. I've heard some rumblings that Landon and Madieu wanted out. We'll see how a change at DC plays out with that... I hope Madieu stays. I always thought of him to be a pretty solid player.
January 3, 200818 yr Author I hope WE sign Madieu Williams. I know he didnt play well this seasons but WE need a hitter like him on the team.
January 3, 200818 yr I hope I'm wrong but I just don't see them spending the kind of money needed to make this defense good enough to compete with.
January 3, 200818 yr I think Landon and Dhani bring physical and mental toughness to the defense that is needed, not to mention when we did have leadership it came from those two. Landon J is a warrior... he was beat up a lot this year but never seemed to miss more than a few plays. I like Madieu, but you have to wonder how long they are going to wait on him to become the player they thought he was becoming, especially with the really good efforts from the two young safties at the end of the season. I agree that we HAVE to sign Andrews. Call me crazy but I think he can be a near pro bowl caliber RT. He's had some great mentors with Big Willie and Paul Alexander...

I've heard some rumblings that Landon and Madieu wanted out. We'll see how a change at DC plays out with that... Absolutely on all three!! Madieu can leave if he wishes, although I love his physical play (Not a Bengal strong suit lately)!!
January 3, 200818 yr Isn't Haynesworth a FA, I hope we give him Justin Smith's money. I don't know if he is or not but I'm pretty sold that he is the best defensive player in the league. If not then he's in the top 2 or 3 so that's going to be some big cash. I can't see the Titans letting him get away!
January 3, 200818 yr Am I missing something here? I've never known Madieu to be such a physical presence at safety as you all are making him out to be. As for the main question, I'd sign Jones, Johnson, and Andrews. Jones is a veteran guy with great locker room presence, and he played very well this year. Johnson is a work horse who can play all 3 spots. He might go out hurt every game, but he always comes back in. Andrews, IMO, has been solid in his role. He has progressed very well, considering he only dressed 1 year of college ball.
January 3, 200818 yr Madieu along with over half of the Bengals defensive starters will be released. You are assuming that they can bring someone in that is better than them. If that was true, wouldn't they had already done it? You get rid of a few attitude problems on the defensive side that won't "do their job" (Marvin keeps alluding to) and 1-3 DL and LB's to pressure the QB and the secondary will improve tremendously.
January 3, 200818 yr I read in The Sporting News that Haynesworth was going to be a free agent and the Bengals were looking hard at signing him.
January 3, 200818 yr Landon Johnson Madieu Williams Stacy Andrews Dhani Jones Out of these four I say the priority should be 1) Andrews, 2A/B) Landon and Dhani, 4) Madieu He won't be cheap but I don't think the Bengals can afford to let Andrews out of town, with Willie on the mend and aging. I don't see how they could be comfortable knowing Kooistra was the heir apparent if WA get's injured again. Plus they took him as a raw athlete and devoted a bunch of time to get him to this point, I don't see how they can just throw that all away. Landon makes plays but Landon also get's knicked up on a weekly basis, I would like to see him back but they can survive without him. Jones is a wild card, he's a vet, and was very solid as a late signing. They have to love his attitude and hunger. Madieu IMO hasn't done enough to get his "rep", plus I think the two young guys are on the upswing.
