I am very surprised that Matt Thomas from AShland didnt even recieve honorable mention....

 

People always get left off that should be there but he might be the best all around athlete in Eastern KY and one of the best athletes in the state.

I'm proud of our kids that made it.

Phillip Hickman was 3rd team defensive lineman also.

 

I don't know how I missed Phillip, but a big congrats to him as well.

 

It seems we keep churning out the 170-180 lb All-State D-Lineman.

It seems the main idea expressed on this thread is who is being neglected by being left off.

 

There is something to be said, here are my two cents.

 

There are players all over this state who played on teams with losing records, who would be equally deserving to be on this list. However, not many cast votes for the kids on the 1-9 or 0-10 teams.

 

In some cases these kids may have the opportunity to "move" to other districts or pay tuition to go to another school.

 

So instead of complaining about a team only placing 2 or 3 kids on the list while others didn't, I want to give a voice to the kids from the 75% or so schools that did not get recognized at all.

Rob Madon of Corbin not being anywhere mentioned other than honorable mention DB is laughable. He should without question been somewhere in the receivers list.

 

Clint Cashen not even being in the honorable mention QB's is a downright travesty and lack of common sense. He should have at worst been 3rd team if not second.

Congrats to everyone whom made this team and to all the other hard working kids throughout the Commonwealth who contributed to what is rapidly becoming one of the best football systems in the entire U.S.

Who would you have replaced with him? Corey Robinson set a national record for TD passes in a season with 91 and led a perennial bottom dweller to the 4A title game.

 

Alex Matthews has been an amazing QB for Shelby County for years and more or less single-handedly guided that program to one of their best seasons in years.

 

Will Stein led the Shamrocks to their 18th title, broke Brian Brohm's single season TD record at Trinity and put up absurd numbers against some of the best competition. Someone more familiar with Cinci St.X can correct me on this, but I believe that Will Stein, guiding the Trinity Offense, put up more points on the #2 team in the nation than anyone else this season.

 

Those are some spectacular quarterbacks. I have heard little to nothing about Clint Cashen this season, what are his stats? Who did he put them up against?

 

I have no doubt that he is a good QB, but the thing is that this year there were a number of good QBs in Kentucky.

I don't mind Robinson getting first team over William, but I feel that William is better than Alex. In any case, congrats to all three.

My issue remains with the overall quality of First team All Atate. Maybe it's simply Kentucky, but do es anyone think that other state's 1st team selections are hoping to get small college offers? If that? We're either way behind in numbers, or the selection committees need to change. Think Fla. Tex Ga. Al. etc. aren't all D1 prospects? We can't get 22 D1s in the state?

I very proud that Tyler Jones of Russell making all state honorable mention at linebacker. That's very good considering he is a defensive end. I although can see how the coaches could confuse him with a linebacker. Jones was a great defensive player who could put a hurt on a running back. Played like a linebacker.

Any one think that a kid the had 8 INTs on the year as a corner should at least be recognized as honorable mention?
