2007 Courier-Journal All-State Team

Wow pretty dissapointed in these. I expected alot more. I would take Deuce Finch(2nd), Tim Phillips(2nd) and Shane Israel(HM) over Dustin May and Corey Farris, but thats just me. Random note Lone Oak places 3 on 1st,2nd,3rd team. Lex Cath places 1 on 1st, 2nd, 3rd. I had high hopes for the CJ after seeing the HL's but I think the CJ could be worse.

Big congrats to all that made it, especially Belfry's Dustin May and Jimbo Stanley.

Phillip Hickman was 3rd team defensive lineman also.

I don't put to much faith in these Picks.. Everyone that made the list deserved it and there were alot of ones that deserved it that didn't so I'm not going to take too much from this list...

Congrats to the Guys that are here from 1st Team to HM

LB Jared Carpenter of BGHS made First Team on defense as well. In a selfless move, he was slated to play DB before the season started, but Coach Wallace needed him more at ILB this year. It paid off for the team and him personally! I'm proud of Jared as well!!:thumb::D

What was his number?

Here are the players from class 4A - District 8 who made All-State...

I would take Deuce in a heartbeat. Have had the opportunity to see him play once last year and again this year in the finals. This year he wasn't 100% and he still impressed me. He is an impact player! I have always pulled for Corey Farris (BOONE) but I would take the Deuce in a second... While I am at it... I still have to question Lone Oaks multiple selections... but since theses were made prior to the finals... I can see why they were selected.. weak schedule stats.

All in all, the CJ did a much better job in selecting quality athletes from around the state than the Lexington paper!

Not that I would take up for the Herald Leader often but isn't their list the best 22 seniors regardless of position.

Could that account for some of the omissions that people are saying were made?

What was his number?

I'm not PH, but, I will answer....his number is 24.

From what I understand, you are very correct.

Don't really remember 24. Guess he had a good season

Why edit your post? Go ahead and let it be known how you really feel. I'm sure #24 is down about not winning the state title, but I doubt he's worried about how many honorable mention all-state guards blocked him at Highlands while he's playing in the Big 10.

I changed it because its not right to judge a player by one game. Congratulations to 24 and I hope he has a great career in the Big 10.

I am very surprised that Matt Thomas from AShland didnt even recieve honorable mention....

I know of a young man who would be selected all state if at a bigger school and played 40 games instead of 14. (Second year program) He could be a diamond in the rough.

Nick Brumback - Jackson County

Well, I guess he did!!!!!!! He is a great player and a wonderful young man. All of our guys are wonderful players and young men IMO!
