Deuce41
The Colonels get another nice win on the road in the Hoopin It Up in Laurel County. They came from 12 down in the first half and played a strong second half, using their defense to create turnovers and offense. Derek Lovett came off the bench and really gave a lift. Mike Storms and Mike Crawford had big nights on the boards. Ben Prewitt hit some big free throws down the stretch, and Jeremy Daniels had some big time steals and deflections. To say it was a total team effort would be an understatement. Whitley did not get the lead till late in the game and kept fighting and Jordan McCumbers hit one free throw with about 10 seconds left, but Whitley got the rebound off the miss (Storms) but turned it over with 1.7 seconds left, a shot a the buzzer missed and the Colonels move on to face the winner of South Laurel/Walton Verona. The Breeze
Does Cody Jones not play basketball? As a freshman he was a heck of a player before his car accident, Coach Baker seems to be doing a good job with the ground work layed last year by Deaton. nomorenoles
From looking at the box scores it was a great team effert. 10 kids score in a tight ball game shows a lot of involvment from the entire team. Glad to hear The Crawford kid had a good game. He is a work horse. He does the tough things like screen board and defend. I would love to see him and Manns from Corbin go head to head. Two great warriors. You would have to carry one of them out on their sheild.
