December 20, 200718 yr It's only 5 days away now! So lets get some info on what the BGP members due for Christmas. Ill start on the 24th we go to my dad's family. Then on Christmas we have it first at my house in the morning. Then finally we go to my mom's mother's house and have Christmas there. We have a big Christmas there,my aunt and uncle from North Carlolina come down along with my uncle and 2 cousins from Texas. Then my other unlce and my other cousin come down from Cleveland. As my uncle from Maysville is there too! Then after we open presents we eat a big Christmas lunch cooked by my grandmother. :ylsuper: Then after that some of us watch the NBA games along with what ever College Football games are on!
December 20, 200718 yr Visiting my mom's side of the family in Iowa. Going to Iowa every year for Christmas — passing miles upon endless, boring miles of snow-covered cornfields on the way — was my family's idea of a "vacation" when I was growing up. Probably no wonder I'm so screwed up today.
December 20, 200718 yr Dec. 14-23: Go to Knoxville to Dad's, and visit Grandmother Dec. 24th: Girlfriend comes up, we exchange gifts, open gifts from parents, leave and go to girlfriends great-grandmother, then go to other grandmother, this year going to her grandfathers too. Dec. 25th: Eat dinner at house, go to girlfriends other grandmother, then going to my grandfathers house.. Boy am I going to be wore out!

December 20, 200718 yr We open our gifts here at home on the 24th. Then ....... We go to my parents in Morgan Co on Christmas eve. We fix all kinds of appitizers, shrimp, meatballs, stuffed mushrooms, cheese balls , fruit ect. Mom always bakes a ham, and makes punch and my sister makes homemade rolls. We open our gifts, start with the youngest and go to the oldest.....takes about 3 hours. The next morning Mom will fix a huge breakfast of country ham, eggs, hashbrowns, biscuits and homemade jelly. Then we go to Beattyville to be with my husbands family Christmas day.

Hitting scan on the radio dial and seeing how long it takes before you find something. :lol: No real traditions here, just the typical normal presents/dinner thing. ALTHOUGH I'm sure Christmas Vacation might find its way into the dvd player again before the end of next week.
December 21, 200718 yr Our kids from Tenn. will be with us this friday till Sunday for our Christmas, being going on now about 10 years. Our grandkids loves to come to grandma and papa house.

December 21, 200718 yr When I was little, we would open gifts here, with my maternal grandparents. Then, on Christmas Day we would go to my paternal grandparents' house. But, they've all passed on now. So over the years, we've had to make new traditions. Now we gather here on Christmas Eve with my brothers and my one brother's family. But this Christmas promises to be one of the most "interesting" we've ever celebrated. My other brother now has a girlfriend who is a German immigrant. She has a heavy accent, but speaks better English than I do. However... ...it just so happens that, the day before we gather for our celebration, her mother is flying in from the old country. So she will be joining us. And she doesn't speak a lick of English! On the good side, I have two years of solid high school German. On the bad side.....I flunked. :irked: Nevertheless, I've been appointed as back-up interpretor and given the responsibility of making our family look culturally, and linguistically well-rounded. We are in very serious trouble. Oh, and the moment my nephew opens his gift from me may be the highlight of the evening. Yeah see, it's called Memoir '44 and is basically a board game simulating the D-day invasion wherein the goal is, of course, to kill as many German people as possible. Like I said, this is going to be an interesting Christmas.

December 21, 200718 yr On Christmas Eve we have an open house from about 2:00 till whenever. We have lots of food, appetizers, snacks, drinks, and we usually feed about 24 or 25 people. When the boys were young, the husband would read Night Before Christmas with them - now he still does it but they usually do the reading - my sons are 18 & 16. My mom started this in our little town of Maytown in Floyd County. I have been doing it for 19 years now, but of course in Greenup County.:banana::banana: We also number the gifts under the tree so that the boys won't know which ones belong to them, one year we did odd's and evens' this year we did something different - can't say because they might get on here. December 21, 200718 yr Well we don't travel for Christmas, We will any other time of the year, IE= Thanksgiving, but I like the kids home for Christmas because Santa comes. I love to see the look on their faces when they see the presents unwrapped from Santa. On Saturday we have appetizers and inlaws and my parents come over and we exchange gifts with them, but on Christmas morning its just us. We also go to our Christmas eve service at Church.
