I wasn't disagreeing with how close and exciting the games would be. The original poster seemed to believe that NCC is the automatic top dog of AA. I was pointing out that was very far from the truth today or historically. As for pointing out the close games the same can be said for the 2006 game and one break that turns Danville's way vs. NCC and the ADs would have celebrated another title. It cuts both ways. I figured that 2006 was Karma payback for the close games in 2000 and 2001.

 

With a disagreement who 2A's future "top dog" will be when the first title (of the new alignment) was taken by a team that never entered the discussion tells me...

 

2A is going to continue being pretty darn competitive.

 

Oh for sure, in any given year they'll be the usual "suspects", but IMO, there's enough strength in the class as a whole that I doubt they'll be any one "dominant" team.

 

This year, Ft. Campbell peaked and was the best team by year's end. It was a rather crowded bunch of talented teams just under them playing at roughly the same level: NewCath, Bardstown, Corbin, Danville, and Metcalfe Co.. I'd look for this kind of balance to continue.

And since 1990, Beechwood has played 6 of the 9 other teams at some point in time. I cannot say the Tigers have had complete success against all (particularly Highlands and Mayfield), but it shows how a small A school is not afraid of anyone. The 3 teams they have not played to my knowledge are Male, St. X, and Trinity.

You do know me better than that. I like the fact that we play schools much bigger than us and take a lot of pride in our accomplishments. But, it would sort of be fun to be in T's and X's shoes wouldn't it? Man, I bet we could really run off some titles.

It's not about public or private, big or small, 4 or 6 classes. It's about tradition. It's about program.

Trinity better keep the pace up the next two years, Because the Birds are going to win a "Threepeat". I look for the birds to go 15-0 in 2008, then really be good in 2009 with the best team in the history of Highlands and about seven D1 players. Then to put the icing on the CAKE! They will be Nationally ranked about 6th. with a 45 game winning streak!!! Good Luck!!! To all the teams throughout the state, this is a good thing for the Bluegrass state!!!

Surely you don't think he/she just jinxed HHS do you? Is he/she wrong for being "positive"? Now saying the team in two years as greatest ever. Now I think he/she might be tilting it a bit. But who knows. We'll see.

Nothing wrong with being positive. But if your that good, you really don't need to say it. The team will be able to say it for you.

 

I just feel it is better to let things play out. Heck, he's talking about two years down the road.
