December 19, 200718 yr There is way way way way way way to much opinion that takes place with this, but I will throw out some opinions who doesn't belong. Nickelback sucks, end of that discussion and it is a insult to any great rock band to have them in front of them on any list that is 10 bands long. The rolling stones, despite their staying power, suck. Mick Jagger is the worst singer of any of the rock bands mentioned so far. He only was considered good because of his stage presence. Now I understand that is a big part of any rock band, but I'd have them top 30 even though I only like 2 of their songs. Top 10... now way. There just aren't enough influential songs. Led Zepplin is overrated. I said it. Do something about it. Before anyone posts another list, think about how influential your bands were, and how talented they actually were. Not just what you think sounds good, but what actually is good. A max of 2 bands from this era should be included. Music isn't as good as it used to be. Plain and simple. That was a choppy rant about a bunch of subjects, but yeah. Deal with it. I reread the thread title and it says FAVORITE bands. Oops. Pretend I was responding to BEST bands :thumb: Would there be rock-n-roll if it required great singers? You've told us who sucks. Who is on your list of "best?"
December 19, 200718 yr As far as a major body of work goes, I like The Eagles the best. From their first record to their last cd, their music stands the test of time.
December 19, 200718 yr I can't believe I've heard of most of these. You going mainstream on us Jim? Mine is a very broad umbrella ...
December 19, 200718 yr Now, I think there is also some confusion -- I didn't include any "groups" that are technically one guy/gal's musical vision with a backing band. For that list, I would have, in no particular order: Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers Neil Young and Crazy Horse James Brown and the Famous Flames Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble Steve Earle and The Dukes Elvis Costello and The Attractions Jason and The Nashville Scorchers Bob Marley and The Wailers Scott Miller and The Commonwealth Prince and The Revolution/The NPG
December 19, 200718 yr My favorite band ever. Not rock and roll though. Its Blues my man. Blues, Rock, w/e it is he was the best. Had the chance to meet him once and he seemed to be a very quiet unassuming sort of guy. IMO nobody played the guitar any better then Stevie Ray..
