If you want the paddle back in your school district, go to the board. Each local school district decides on whether to use corporal punishment or not.

If you cannot see where a grown adult hitting a defenseless child is wrong, then nothing I can say will be able to explain it. Furthermore, if my judgement of your discipline techniques infuriates you so much, then maybe I have struck a chord with you.

I also know that no matter how hard I was on them they could come and talk to me about anything. But the best thing about it all is that THEY knew it also. And they still do to this day.

My whippings as a child had absolutely no bearing on were I am today. It is an ineffective form of punishment. I have taught and coached in public schools for 12 years. My football team is disciplined and successful and my classroom is disciplined and my students are successful. I don't have to hit them to get them to do what they need to do. There is no way that I would allow a school official to assault my child.

I wonder if anyone can tell me how many problems when had in our public school systems when paddling was allowed?

I think there is a major difference in abuse and spanking. Not at all the same.

 

I think a belt to the meaty backside is appropriate. Much more than time out. I am now to a point to where I wish I had used a belt more on my 2 sons.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion but I firmly believe that children act like they do today because the dictates about discipline found in God's Word are not followed. Man made rules don't mean beans --- God's Word says that if you spare the rod you Hate your child. I will follow His rules---not man's.
