Im very sad at how UK is 4-5.

People, you all can blame Tubby all u want but this team is just as talented as last years and this team will be lucky to win half the games Tubby won last year.I know one thing,Tubby wouldn't be playing Porter 25-30mins a game like Billy does. I don't get his coaching style.They're getting pounded on the boards in the first half and Ramon Harris is in there with four guards.9 games into the season Billy couldn't hold Tubby's clipboard when it comes to in game coaching.

This team is as talented as last years? We do not have Randolph Morris, Jasper, or a healthy Meeks. Now, our one proven player may be hurt. Last year, we also had a lot stronger of a bench. As sad as it sounds, Thomas and Woo coming off the bench helped a lot.

 

This team cant even begin to compare (until theyre fully healthy) with last years.

Injuries are the difference between this year and last year. Porter deserves to play, he has more hustle than any other player on this team, he may not have near the talent but if the kid's going to hustle play him, I believe Porter probably earns his PT in practice, maybe the talented players should catch on to this and follow his lead.

Effort doesnt equal ability. I would much rather have someone with a lot talent than someone who will run really hard but have 1000 TO's and atleast one foul on a three point shooter per game.

 

I'm sure he deals with a lot, based on how much he is despised by fans, but the kid is just not UK calibur talent.

 

That said, who else are you going to play? Ramon Harris? When Jasper gets back, Porter better not being played 30 a game.

I have no idea why USC Football wanted Porter, the kid is SLOW.

We've traded Patterson for Morris which is an upgrade. Stewart is better than Thomas or Woo but doesn't get a chance.Why is everyone so high on Jasper when last year everyone was cutting him down towards the end of the year.Meeks is a lot better this year than last but granted has only played 3 games.Last year everyone considered the senior class as the worst in Kentucky history but now you're going to give me Thomas and Woo as being talented.

I like Crawford, but I agree with you that when these two are gone things will get better team wise.But,we still have Porter for two more years.Looks like he is to Billy what Saul was to Tubby.

Until he has a team of only his players, who have played only his system.

 

The guy can coach, Buzzer. It's not as if he didnt have one of the best teams in the country last year. He has outcoached Bobby Knight, Rick Pitino, and others in his career.

 

You cant judge him as a coach with the lack of talent they have right now. The team still isnt even at full strength.

Anyone with a thread of common sense is not near ready to throw in the towel. You have to give him time. I seem to remember a coach who didnt take UK to the tournament his first couple of years - and ended up doing all right.

I've went through tonight and read all of the threads on UK and BCG over the past week and I have to say..... This is the very best post that I have read all night. FrontRowFan, you are exactly right. I couldn't have written it better myself. These are Tubby's recruits, except Patterson, and until he gets some classes of his own I am going to continue to be a BCG fan. When a new coach comes into a program and has immediate success like a Tubby Smith or a Bruce Weber at Illinios then the previous coach is given most of the credit for the success. Shouldn't it be the same way if the tables are turned? Nobody blamed Roy Williams in his 1st year at UNC when they struggled, everyone blamed the players and their recruiter Matt Doherty. The same standards should be given to BCG. I'm not at all surprised with the way the team has been playing, they've been playing like this since they arrived in Lexington. It's the same things time after time, Crawford shooting 50 times a game and forcing everything while disrubting the offense and the rest of the team standing around watching him while at the same time playing with no intensity and no heart. UK fans need to get off BCG's case, give him time. Wait to see how "his" teams do after he has recruited them. Everyone wants to win now and I understand that but it's not realistic. We didn't get in this shape overnite and we're not going to get out of it overnite either, it will take some time. The right man has the job, now give him the time and respect to do it.

UK fans were quick to judge Rich Brooks when he didn't have his recruits in there, why are some giving BCG a pass?

Yes they should. They are not a good basketball team. SIMPLE as that. This is not 1996.

 

My problem is... same players, same injuries and same whatever, this team would be better than 4-5 with Tubby as the coach IMO.

We didn't get in this shape overnite and we're not going to get out of it overnite either.

 

Tubby's teams were NEVER close to this shape.
