I heard a sad letter written by Dickie V this morning stating that he has some serious legions on the left side of his throat that must be surgically removed. The doctors are optimistic that he can return to the mic in February. I hate to hear that for Mr. Vitale.

I don't care about what others think, I like Dicky V. He brings an honest enthusiasm for college basketball.

Very sad news to hear. A lot of people do not like Vitale but I really like him, he is one that honestly loves college basketball and the kids. He is a major contibutor/ leader of the Jimmy V foundation for Cancer reasearch. Dick Vitale is for all that is right with college b.b.. Yes, he is a UNC and Duke homer but he is also a "college basketball homer". Like him or not, a person has to wish him well.

Prayers are going up for Dick Vitale from this oldrambler.

I think Dick Vitale IS college basketball. His letter was very emotional and heartfelt and you could tell that it is a pretty serious situation. It sounded like he has been struggling with a decision for weeks now.

I agree. I enjoy watching him. He adds spirit and energy to all games he announces. I hope he's back soon.

:thumb: :thumb: I agree. Dickie V is the man. I hope he can get back soon, and in time for the Duke-UNC games.

I wish him the best, but in my opinion, he's the most annoying guy on the face of the planet. Most of the time when he's calling a game on my T.V. he's muted.

I'm not always his biggest fan, but I definitely wish him a speedy recovery.

I hope him the best. I really like how he works for the Jimmy V Foundation and trying to raise money towards a cure for cacnce, but I cannot stomach him during a game. I dread listening to him as much as Billy Packer. He takes away from the game.
