There is a fundamental difference between Smith's character and Hank's character. Hank's was not supposed to be a super-genius. lol. That is where the lines of reality are blurred dramatically.

 

I believe I have heard multiple times that Einstein was schizophrenic... Can anyone confirm this?

I went and seen the sneak peak of it last Wednesday and though it was really good. There are some sad parts thoughout the movie, and there are also some funny parts. Overall I would give the movie a 7.5 out of 10.

And I hope Will Smith gets an Oscar nomination. (Though, from the previews I'd say Heath Ledger as The Joker will very likely be a top candidate)

I know that Hollywood is infamous for making movies with too happy of endings, but in this scenario I think it would've improved the film if Neville had lived. I mean, it's not like the movie didn't have its share of heart-tugging sadness, so a happy Hollywood ending would've actually made it better I believe. It would've been a good combination of downs and ups as opposed to downs with a small insignia of hope (the fact that we didn't get to see further results of his 'cure' doesn't necessarily leave me feeling like his death meant something).

 

Actually,since Will Smith character lost both his wife and daughter in the movie, I thought the way the movie ended was more fitting.

I had heard before the film came out that they had reshot the ending and I figured that was because test audiences didn't like leaving the theatre on a downer. Test audiences have ruined so many movies, but anyways.

 

I was very happy to see the ending stay the way it should have been in the first place. Pretty good movie, almost impossible to live up to the great, great teaser trailers that preceded its release.

That's the thing... it was all a downward spiral. In movies where pretty much everyone is dead anyway, I like to see characters live :lol:.

I think you can say a lot of bad things about this movie like the plot wasn't believeable enough, it wasn't exciting enough, or maybe the ending wasn't good enough. However, the one thing I don't see at all is someone saying Will Smith's acting was bad. He brilliantly portrayed Robert Neville by making you see all the different levels of the character. He used to be an exceptional military scientist who now had to battle off his inner demons all alone while still trying to save the world with his vaccine and all the while teetering on the edge of insanity. I can't imagine that being pulled off any better than it was.

He was completely unbelievable. I think he is a talented actor. He was great in Persuit of Happiness and Ali - but in this - his acting SUCKED along with the rest of the film. I especially loathe scene in which the woman tells him there is a colony of survivors. Why would he so vigrously deny it when she is alive...I mean, he didnt think "anyone" was alive and then someone is. Obviously proves he doesnt know everything about the situation - but he still screams at her to shut up and everything.

 

I just hated the movie - as you can probably tell. Biggest let down ever.

Yeah, it was definitely predictable (in one of the trailors it shows him picking her up), but the way they did it was wrenching.

If Chuck Norris was in the movie he would have lived and killed all the humans that were deformed.

 

The part where the dog died was very sad. The ending made me mad. He should have launched it then went in the hole.

I did not like this movie. Will Smith's acting was not bad but the movie was boring. It focuses on him enduring a few days of survival then of course the good ending and its over.

First off, I haven't read one thread on here,so if my opinion has been stated already,then ignore it.

1. Having seen this movie done twice already (The Last Man on Earth with Vincent Price and the Omega Man with Charlton Heston),I wasn't really impressed nor surprised.

 

2. Will Smith,as always,gave a wonderful performance...why he chose to do it is beyond me,but he was brilliant..better than Price?NOT BY A LONG SHOT!!! Better than Heston...about equal..maybe. I find it hard to give a remake of ANY movie much of a chance..Especially the remake of a Vincent Price movie (and you can fudge the script all you want..that's all this movie is..a remake of the Last Man on Earth.)

 

To the producers of the movie...D-...it's been done already...and better!!Shame on you.

To Will Smith..B+...you did a GREAT job,but you should have let this one go...You are not now,nor will you EVER be Vincent Price.

Just for the record,The Omega Man was Heston's worst role...He is a great actor (Ben Hur is the greatest movie ever made)...but he should have left the job done by Price alone,too! You can't improve on a master's work!!!!

I'm probably a little biased since I like most anything with Will Smith (got me hooked with The Fresh Prince).
