December 12, 200718 yr DeAngelo Hall didn't have anything nice to say about Petrino this morning on Mike and Mike. :thumb: It is beyond me how anyone could have anything nice to say about Petrino yet some still defend him, that is their option though. I have noticed that the number of those that defend him is very quickly dwindling. Who could blame them, my two biggest dislikes for anyone in any area of life are a thief and/or a liar. Bob Petrino fits in that group/class. I now have a legit reason to dislike Arkansas . I actually liked watching them play under Nutt and his offensive system. They (Arkansas) have traded the "Nutt House" for the "Liars Club".

Carroll decide to leave USC I would add that job into the group that if given the chance Petrino would walk out of Arkansas ............"in the middle of a game" :lol: to head to la la land.He cares NOTHING about anything or anyone but himself. hat has been proven actually a few years agao but a group of people on here were defending him and slamming anyone that had anything along these lines to say about him. This (leaving Atl. for Ark.) is no suprise to me, that is ALL Petrino has ever done. I hope that there are kids/recruits parents paying attention to what he is about . If so that should help all the other SEC schools recruiting :lol:.
December 12, 200718 yr He could have at least waited until the season was over, but I think the Falcons are not sorry to see him go. That franchise needs to start over. Won't be long before Petrino has the Hogs playing at the top of the SEC. He's an excellent college offensive coach.
December 12, 200718 yr Just looking at the situation objectively, the only way I can see a person really liking Petrino from a distance (if you know him, he may actually be a good friend or whatever) is if he is coaching your team to wins. Otherwise, I just do not see a lot of good in him.

This isn't like he's taking over Vandy or Temple. :thumb: Nutt did a pretty solid job at Arkansas, IMO. He left the program in pretty good shape for Petrino. Unless his work at U of L was a fluke (I don't think it was), he should be able to have success at Arkansas. In the short-term, it's not likely they'll win the conference, but they should be solid and capable of pulling off a big win or two. In the long term, if he can keep winning and have success recruiting, he could turn the Hogs into a consistent player in the SEC West. We'll see how it turns out. There is obviously more to it than just pure coaching ability. What are the differences in recruiting at Arkansas and U of L? Recruiting in the south vs. other SEC schools, as opposed to recruiting vs. Big East schools...also, Arkansas will have to recruit the Texas area vs. the Texas schools and other Big 12 powers. Also, the week-to-week competition in the SEC is more intense than what he faced in the Big East (not a knock on the Big East, just a fact, IMO). I think the rivalries and "football is religion" mentality really ups the ante in the SEC vs. other conferences. Petrino will have to prove he can thrive in that environment. Personally, I think he'll be fine, but we'll find out for sure in the coming year(s). I think his stint in Auburn as the OC should be an advantage because he should already be familiar with how things operate in SEC. From UK's perspective, this sucks, IMO...another great coach in the SEC, at a school that has more tradition than we do. Also, Nutt goes to Ole Miss, so they have a better coach now as well. But, from an SEC football fan's perspective, I like it. I've always been a fan of Petrino and his coaching style, so I'm excited to see another great coach in the SEC, to hopefully make the conference even better. If you just look at the coaching names in the SEC right now, it's crazy... Spurrier, Meyer, Richt, Tuberville, Saban, Petrino, Fulmer, Miles...also, Nutt...and Broooks:lol: No conference can even come close to matching the coaching prestige the SEC has...whether that all translates to the field, who knows? But, they've got the names. Some of the best coaches in the game...although, I'm not real high on Miles and Fulmer, they've got big names...Miles for his recent success at LSU and Fulmer for his past success at UT and his national title.

He will bring in a good offensive system but Iimo he will find the SEC much different and tougher to get wins in than the Big East, he should know that though from his time as an assistant at Auburn.
