I'll bet that Petrino doesn't even make it past 5 years with Arkansas! Can you imagine how bad his character is going to used against him in recruiting! He won't even get in the front door of a lot of places and I'd say recruiting Georgia isn't going to be to easty:)

Some of you guys simply aren't getting it.....there are an abundance of talented kids that have grown up wanting to go to Arkansas, compound that with Florida, Texas, and Louisiana "leftovers", and he will be quite successful. Don't let your hatred for Bobby Petrino skew the thought process that he won't make it. He did a heck of a lot with much less than he will get at Arkansas.

I have been on his butt for a while now, when he was at UL...proof meet pudding.

 

He will do a good job at Arkansas...but will he do a better job than Houston Nutt did there?

Nutt was fairly successful on the field, the circus off of it is what did him in.

He will never get another shot is the NFL again.... What a loser!

The same argument could be said of your statements. Don't let your love for Petrino cloud the fact that his reputation as a liar is now etched in stone. Until he proves otherwise ( by actions and not words) it will take more than him teling a poterntial recruit the sad story about how he was dealt a bad hand ( as you refered to earlier). That is a very weak excuse. He didn't even have enough guts to tell the players face to face. The reasons why he left can not overide his actions and his failure to tell the truth.

I agree that there are/were kids that grew up wanting to play for Arkansas but I'm sure those same kids will have second thoughts now that Petrino is in charge. How can they possibly believe him when he tells them anything.

He has upset a large cart and IMO it will take a long time before he regains the trust of anyone.

He is a good college coach with a great offensive mentality but the biggest obstacle he will now face is walking into a home and gaining the trust of the parents. If I were one of those parents I would be very skeptical of what BP brings to the table.

That is a reach. I give 2/3 years....that seems to be his track record for the most part when things are going well for him.

Agreed on all parts. I still feel he will get enough talent to win a lot of ballgames, and then the rest will eventually be forgotten. It is not hurting Saban.

I agree on all of this post, especially the highlighted parts cville.

 

1.) I believe that since maybe that the "Coach honesty":rolleyes: was at U.L. that some will defend him no matter what, they do not understand that this is not said against U.L. but rather the terrible hire that they mad e afew years ago that sold their butts out as well.

2.) Petrino could not even spell Character, has never heard of it. He wants a "Team" concept but is "all about me"and that doesn't cut it.

3.) I think that you may be right, all they have to do is look at the mans record of what he has said and what he has done - this is everywhere that he has ever been and is not "Rocket Science" to figure out that he cannot be trusted with anything, let alone their future.

4.) I would also not be suprised if some of the current Arkansas players and especially their parents are not so sceptical of this bum that they will not want to be a part of a program that he is the head of. Might possibly be some looking to transfer out when he comes in.

 

JMO but anyone that would ever put trust and/or faith in Bobby Petrino as a coach, mentor, or even a friend for that matter would be very hard up for friends.

Petrino would sell his own mother out if he thought that it would benifit him.

I also agree with you that it will be forgotten in due time. However, I have been through the recruiting process and know that you have also and that is how I looked at the situation. He does bring a lot to the table as far as a football mindset but I'm just saying (and I think you will agree) if I or my son were being recruited by BP I would have great difficulty seperating fact from fiction.

I can't agree that he will remain at Arkansas for a long period, as his track record speaks for itself. I also know that certain circumstances make an individual sometimes do things that are out of character but this type of behavior seems to be something Petrino can not escape. If he is able to recruit great players I only hope that he keeps his promises and doesn't treat 17 & 18 year olds in the same manner as he has the guys in the NFL.

I wasn't extremely mad at him leaving Louisville because he did great things, left the stable full, and was improving himself. I am not mad at him now, because he again, IMO, found out how much he likes the control of college, and will be happier. That said, this truly is the last straw in my mind, unless he left to finish up at USC.

He did do some good things @ UL, but do you not hold him responsible for some of the dismay that this years Cardinal team suffered through? IMO some of the problems this season were because of BP.

I also agree that he is more suited for the college game and you would be upset if he went to USC but just think how you would feel if he had gone to OSU.:lol:
