February 24, 200818 yr Could anyone explain how the 3 grade exception rule came about? What is the difference between an 11 year old who has been held back or an 11 year old not held back? Why not say you can have 3 kids with birthdays before Sept. 1 regardless of their grade. It just seems like your rewarding a kid for failing or being held back by allowing them to play down and punishing those whose parents choose not to do it or whose schools will not allow kids stay back just because they want too.
February 24, 200818 yr Great Day for the Wolfpack - 7th and 6th grades beating the Ville and the Tarheels respectively. 7th grade beat the Ville in the semis and the 6th grade beat the Tarheels in the championship game. 7th grade hit tough shots down the stretch when it mattered. The 6th grade exploded in the 2nd quarter taking a double digit lead to half. Surprisingly, the guard play for the wolfpack outplayed the guards for the Tarheels.

Sanders and Quick were missing. In my mind though, beating the Ville is beating the Ville. Their bench is not much of a step off of their starters. Don't get me wrong, they are a good team and probably will defend their D1 title at state, but a win is a win. The Tarheels were missing Snyder on Sunday. On Saturday the Tarheels beat the Wolfpack by 14, however Snyder had only 6 or 8 points. Hatton went off as usual, but got into foul trouble early. It was a 4 point game on Saturday with 3 minutes left and the Wolfpack just made stupid mistakes. Sunday was different with the Tarheels making the mistakes and the Wolfpack capitalizing when it was necessary.
February 25, 200818 yr The 6th grade wolfpack winning doesn't really suprise me. The wolfpack has 2 great guards and you will always be competitive if your guards can play. You have to BELIEVE, I think that the wolfpack can play! I think the wolfpack would beat the Tarheels 3-4 out of every 10. Remember, about 1/2 of the game is mental.
February 25, 200818 yr Boomer 72, "nice wins" beating a good Ville team, any time is reason to celebrate. :dancingpa The Ville, not having Hicks, Sanders and Quick, is a big step from their bench though. Quick and Hicks is the two best athletes in the state, Sanders, is a top guard in the state. These 3 make up 75% of their scoring, and a lot of their defense and rebounding. The Ville, is a good team with out them and a very good team with them. I'm not disrespecting you or your team for their win "good win"!:thumb: " A win is a win" :ylsuper:

If you can beat a defending D1 champ with or without key players its a huge boost to the ego. Congrats. ON a side note the NKY Warriors played the Cincy Lakers (6th) who they have beaten already twice this season and lost by 8pts. The Lakers picked up a big kid and also another boy who didnt even have a uniform. He had a white jersey and black shorts. I thought that was kind of funny. The Warriors came out sluggish and got down by 18 pts in the 1st half. They made a nice run in the end with pressing, steals, etc but came up short. The Cincy Lakers 6th grade kids are very good and will compete Nationally especially with the big 6 foot kid they picked up and this other mysterious 5"10 kid who didnt have a uniform. Maybe by the time Nationals comes around they will get him a Uni.

Typical Blaze team they will press and run you up and down the floor if you let them. The Heat has a pretty decent shooter and a big post player who is somewhat athletic. My predictions - D1 NKY Rockets win in a landslide and D2 I'll give to either the Wolfpack or the McGovney led Allstars!

Maybe by the time Nationals comes around they will get him a Uni. The last time we saw the Lakers they had 2 kids over 5'10". The big 6' tall kid played with them last year but because of "issues" between the coach and parents hasn't played consistently with them this year. I wonder if it's the same kids and you guys hadn't seen them before. I will say this the Lakers carry a huge roster of kids.
February 26, 200818 yr My question is how can a player play in both D1 and D2 nationals the same year. It happened last year in Virginia and Kentucky but I am not mentioning any name. I know the player your talking about the AAU told them a D2 player can play up, but a D1 player can't play down. All paper work was completed and cleared by the AAU. This is my understanding of the situation your talking about HOOPDR. Hope to see you in a gym in the near future.:thumb:
