It's the same wherever you go. High School officials not wanting to do AAU but have to to supplement their earnings. They don't want to be there or don't care and it shows. Not all officials are this way but the 1/3 that are make it bad for all officials. Same old story just a different day!

Boomer I disagree to an extent with you because the Florence BCI doesn't use LICENSED officials. That is where you run in to the problems with Dave.

LICENSED isn't the correct word, it's certified. There is no referee license, It's a certification process. However, Dave has just as many high school certified refs as some of the other places. The problem with BCI and other places, is what's the consequence for doing a bad job???

Same for some of the middle school refs who keep showing up at the same games each week.

Same for some of the middle school refs who keep showing up at the same games each week. For the most part, AAU officiating isn't very good - no matter where you play. As long as it is equally bad, I have no problems. Even when you have certified officials, they are not graded in AAU events because officials are hard to find; therefore, some don't care as much.
February 7, 200818 yr I have had MANY teams play at the BCI in Florence and at that facility. They are absolutely the worse officials around, bar none! Every once in awhile you may get one good official, but rarely will you have two good ones in one game!

Dave only has a handful of certified officials and that may be a high estimate. Most of the Northern Kentucky certified officials won't work for Dave so he has to use whoever he can get. If I was coaching a team in his tournaments, I'd be very upset to see the caliber of so-called officials that are calling his tournaments. It's really a joke and one would think that somebody would do something about it. I guess as long as there are teams willing to play in his tournaments, he doesn't have to worry about the quality of the officials. As long as Dave is making money, that's all that's important to Dave.

February 8, 200818 yr I was wondering why the price seemed negotiable the last time I was out there. Nothing bad to say about Dave, I really liked him when I met him and they are taking time to put together tournaments but it seems the officiating is really hurting them.

The last tournament we played there, a coach for another team (differant age division) was one of the officials. He would call a few games then coach his team. I bet he didn't any call out there.:confused:

The only problem - There are no other competitive tournaments locally on a consistent basis. The solution is to constantly travel and parents get tired of that real quick.
