As long as there are grade exemptions and kids with good birthday's (after September 1 for AAU), there will always be kids about 2 years older--so for 6th grade your talking about a kid who could be an 8th grader. Two years makes a huge difference at the elementary/middle school level.

Two years makes a huge difference at the elementary/middle school level. They can only be 1 year older with the grade exemption. Therefore, they would be a young 8th grader if they were the max age for that exemption. ******We have 2 age exemptions on our team but there birth months are August and June being only 1 and 3 months older than the cutoff.

Yes but they will compete agaist each other the rest of their lives and both will be eligible as seniors. The parents of the young child must not have taken into account that they would be participating in sports. We have a 6'2" eight grader whose mother had him skip 3rd grade. He just turned 13 and would have been eligible as a 6th grader to play AAU and in high school. If you have seen our team you can understand how much difference that would have made. WOW! I understand parents that hold back their children and I understand parents who are dead agaist it.... but I wish the parents agaist it would quit belittling the parents who do. It just comes down to priorities and not everyone's are the same.

What boards are you speaking of? All I know is they are playing now at 3pm at St. Thomas in Ft. Thomas on Sunday. Warriors coach is trying to confirm with Pernell the tarHeels coach. You never know, last week they didnt show up for their scheduled game out at SportsPlus.

I hadn't thought about that. Their school season is almost over, not sure why they would continue to play with their school team???? You could be right. Their decent. There point guard is on our U12 B team and their big boy is easy to get off his game.

It just comes down to priorities and not everyone's are the same. I am not belittling...our schools will not allow parents to hold kids back (for athletic purposes) if they do not fail. So as I said, my child will continue to play against kids two years older.
