we are not the ACC, so Vitale doesn't have anything good to say about us

I'm torn between Memphis St and UCLA...

I can't argue with either one of those:thumb:, right now I just like UNC at #1. Really a person imo could throw UNC,UCLA and Memphis in hat and pull out a name for #1.

JMO.

Many of my fellow UK fans slay me. In the "Harris is hurt" thread a few weeks ago I say no big deal, he isn't impactful. I'm roundly hammered and told Harris is a potential big-timer. Now, after another showing of Harris being useless, everyone jumps on the Harris stinks wagon. No worries, I'll make room.

I agree, Vitale was dead wrong. It's way more than 5% of the UK fan base Dicky....he underestimated.

Guys, I was watching the game and Vitale was saying that he thought Tubbly was ran out of town and talkedabout all that he had accomplished at UK. But iin the next breath he was talking about Kentucky didn't have the players to compete against NC. So the question is Which is True? Does anyone here know what Dick Vitale was trying to say?

I believe that he was right on both statements.

He also said that it was a small percetange of U.K. fans that make the most noise about Tubby and that most U.K. fans (Vital said 95%) were very good fans and very knowledgeable. Only difference in this and what has been said on here (BGP) is that Vitale I guess thought that there was a smaller pct. of "those" fans and what has been posted on here. Vitale's 5% vs. BGP's famous 18%.

I believe that Vitale was wrong in that estimation - his 5% of "those fans" was way too low, is closer to the 18% of BGP estimates:D

At any rate, Tubby is at Minnesota now and we have Gillispie, so both Tubby and U.K. have moved on. That issue is "dead horse" material (to me anyway). :thumb:

Vitale rambled so much between Tubby and the Jimmy V. foundation that I began to wonder if he realized that there was a basketball game going on....Also,I'm not disputing the Duke/UNC rivalry, but perhaps he'd like to show up some year when we play Louisville..or Indiana...or Tennessee.

I thought we played a good game today, but were just outmanned.Hats off to UNC,they have a great team with the potential to get even better. I like our progress, but until Meeks and Jasper are healthy,we are going to struggle. Something we ALL should have expected before the season started.

Also much respect to UNC for the year to year game..any reason that their neighbor just down the road won't do the same??Anyone?

And Vitale has beat it to death...as usual!!!

I don't know, but hopefully as the season progresses we'll see Stewart and Legion start to take some minutes away from Coury and Porter.

To me, Gillispie's substition patterns are simply a way of saying "I told you, I don't care who is supposedly more talented... I will play who works the hardest in practice." These guys will know this going forward and will put forth a better effort... Is it going to be ugly at first? Absolutely. It's not going to be a situation where Tubby benches his starters for the first 3 minutes of the game and they come in at the first timeout and still get all of the minutes. He is playing the guys who are getting it done in practice, and I applaud him for sticking by his guns.

I have said before that UNC/Duke is a great rivalry and probably does have more exposure and interest nationwide BUT for pure intensity UNTIL Coach K begins coaching UNC the UK/UL rivalry is the more intense. When you want to beat the team and the coach...that is a rivalry with no equal IMO.

Sorry for the thread jacking by the way.

Patterson has won me over. I like the grit of this young man. He is doing the UK name proud. Count me as a fan.

One of the major problems of this team is a lack of quickness and speed. It hurts on the offensive end as no one can get to the basket and cause defensive breakdowns resulting in easy baskets or free throws. It happens on the defensive end in rotation and being able to put pressure on someone.

AND WHERE WAS THIS TEAM against GW and Stony Brook. When a team shows up against the "name" opponents and not the other teams on the schedule, you can assume a selfish team that is all for the glory and not the dirty work that makes a successful team.

And for those TBers that didn't like Vitales word, it is because the truth hurts.

Vitale is an idiot.

The first half was as physical a half I have seen out of UK in a long time. The previous regime bemoaned their physical or lack of physical play.

Well first I do want to say I do agree with pretty much everything that you had in your long post, except for this one thing. I really don't see how you can judge by this game, that this team is a lot more physical. I mean yeah they played very hard on Tyler Hansborough and gave him nothing easy, which was great to see. But the team has also done that the last two years as well, actually I think we gave up more points to him yesterday than we have in the previous two years under Tubby. So I really don't see how you can say this years team is more phycial than the last few years teams, because under Tubby they also banged around Tyler Hansborough. This is really the first game we have even seen Billy G team be physical, because they sure havent shown it in any other game yet...

This game reminded me of last years Kansas game. We played as hard as we can, but we just didn't have the talent of UNC...

I was with you. Harris is clearly terrible and should never have gotten an offer from UK, either. His first step is painfully slow and he can't handle the ball at all.

1) Patterson is very good and much better than just the "rebounder" that he was labeled as coming out. Also, which I may love even more about him is how fired up he gets out there. I would've never guessed that based off of his signing day press conference.

2) I liked him from the get go and I'm really anxious to see Stewart develop as a player. I feel he has mass potential.

3) I was tricked by alot of people on here and from other sources into believing that Ramon Harris can contribute. I hate ripping any UK player more than anything but the guy just can't play. Does he know how to shoot? At least give it a try...

4) I don't mind Billy's substitution patterns. Although, I think we'll see it toned down a bit as the season progresses.

5) If I hadn't dedicated 20 years of fanhood to UK, I would gladly switch allegiances based solely on the fact that I can't stand 75% of my fellow Wildcat fans. Watching a game at Rupp is very frustrating. However, they're my boys out there so my fanhood remains firm.
